It is nice to have a few 'pinned threads' with a subject category but do you think we have a little too many on Page 1 ?

Is it possible 'pinned threads' might have its own exclusive page leaving the associated 'Topics' with a full page 1 ?

Just a thought.

I was thinking about this yesterday, and while the board doesn't support it, a personal pinned option might be nice. That way you could have vital topics to new users and information "permanently pinned" and the rest would be pinned based on your user settings. With the usage some of these topics get (eg the trade threads) they would come up at the top of the "recent" threads list often so new visitors would find them without to much effort and be able to pin them to their personal settings. this way users with only one HD format or console could happily not have space taken up by systems they do not have or have an interest in..

its fricken ridiculous really surely we can cull a few. or make up one sticky thread that links to others.

Is there a way to change the number of threads you can show per page? I know some sites give you that ability. As my screen shows it there are more pinned threads than normal threads on the first page.

perhaps a single Disc trade thread, a single HD DVD thread, a single Blu-ray thread.........?

Merge the existing ones. That's 3 pinned threads gone already.

yes Perhaps we have three stickies which contain links..along the lines of the htfaq sticky

1. HD-DVD Links

HD-DVD Title Trade

Official Hd Dvd Owners Thread

Official Hd Dvd Software Thread

2. Blu-ray Links

Blu Ray Title Trade

Blu-ray / Ps3 Enthusiast Thread

Official Blu-ray Software Thread

3. Console Links

the 'official' everything XBOX 360 thread

Wii're Here!

and maybe leave a 4th sticky

4. A Buyers Guide To Blu-ray And Hd Dvd

thats 9 stickies down to 4. and nothign stopping people adding more links to interesting threads under any of the link stickies.

Yeah far too many stickies. You often have to flick to page 2 of the forum just to read new posts.

Incidentally I never asked for the "Wii're Here" thread to be pinned so I've definitely got no issues with it being removed. It was only intended to be a first impressions post about a cool new device.

I must admit I find the "HD DVD Title Trade" and "Blu-ray Title Trade" stickies very useful though.

I like the idea of a separate "trade/sale" thread that covers both formats and maybe even adds in games (better than getting ripped off by EB)

yes we do ........ But, the reason is that the Forum structure is not granular enuf! There should be at a minimum a "Gaming Forum" & a "HD DVD & BluRay" forum imo.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Yes far to many IMO, more so those with smaller screens having to scroll so much.

Yep, "My controls" then "board settings". Can select up to 40 threads per page.

I've PM'd* Tim requesting a Forum Split as proposed above.

*Well actually got lazy so I just reported myself instead.

There should be a totally seperate For Sale / Trade Section, which is then broken down into sub categories.

Check out OCAU for a look at how they've set things up. Its the biggest forum in Australia.

dtvforum has indicated many a time there will be no For Sale Trade Section. doesnt matter what other forums might have.

I support the sticky structure, which both alebonau and momaw advocate.

i agree. there should be no more than 4.

You can adjust it. I have 30 threads on my first page when I log it. Its just a matter of adjusting your preferences.
