The DBA website lists Prime as starting digital transmission from Mt Taylor this month, had a scan yesterday but didn't see a signal  I'm all excited waiting to see the rest of the footy and V8's on digital(no wait, that's back on digital isn't it...).

If anyone has a more accurate start date for transmission, or actually sees a signal please report it immediately!!! I'm sure there are other people just as interested as me who would like to tune in ASAP.

Harveythedog,

Make sure that you are looking at the right channels and the antenna is in the right band.

Read Get the Best Reception, Regional Victoria and read the links.

AlanH

Thanks for the tip AlanH,

I already have an appropriate antenna and good digital TV reception on my MythTV HTPC for the other 4 networks that are transmitting, so I'm assuming it's Prime not up and running yet that is the key to my footy and car racing woes

I see the start date for Prime on the DBA website has changed from April to May 2007

YES. First PRIME 7 said FEB commencement for Mt Taylor Bairnsdale. Next the date was put back to APRIL. Now they say MAY 2007. But... ? All other free to air stations have been transmitting SD and HD from Mt Taylor Bairnsdale since Jan 2007. I can find no explanation from PRIME anywhere as to WHY they are repeatedly delaying their commencement date. You would think this is a fair question to keep viewers advised.

Any response PRIME ?

Pretty pathetic really by PRIME.

I Mean stuff happens, things get delayed but it's hard to imagine PRIME has been doing anything but repeatedly making hollow promises to save a bit of face - since they appear incapable of keeping pace with the other networks. It's not like they've been giving us updates and keeping us in the loop either(have never received a reply to an email).

I wonder if PRIME realises how little(If at all actually) I watch their analogue channel since I've become accustomed to digital? Looks pretty horrible on any modern TV let alone a big HDTV.

Maybe we should pool our resources tcoymaster...........Perhaps we can pay Humphrey B. Bear to have a "talk" Tony Soprano style with Prime Possum?

Anyone who gets around wearing that waistcoat has to be pretty tough?

(have never received a reply to an email).

What e-mail address do you send to? Is it primetv@primetv.com.au ?

I have never known anyone to receive a reply to email sent to primetv@primetv.com.au

Prime have no engineering staff in Victoria outside Ballarat, so the best email address to use is ballarat.reception@primetv.com.au

As for Prime Possum... It seems his creators overlooked the fact that possums are nocturnal animals, as PP goes to bed early evening.

Thanks for the email tip mtv.

Maybe that's why it's taking so long to install digital at all these locations.......driving from Ballarat to Bairnsdale and back again every day to work on the transmitter?

A fatal flaw that, now when we raise the money to get Humphrey B to "lean on" on PP it will be a simple task to find him.........better start checking under the bed first :D

DBA Website appears to have changed to "30-Jun-07" (from "June 2007").

I guess it's better than changing to July 07 anyway.

Does this mean we have a "solid" start date for PRIME now, and is there any precedent elsewhere for this?

Mt. Dowe in NSW (Upper Namoi) had PRIME down as 15-june-07 just the other day, but it's now 25-june-07, so even though it appears to be an exact date, no it's not, delays can still happen!

OK, thanks digitalj, still sounds better than(up until now) using the DBA website to tell what month it is :P

HTD.

Public notices in todays local paper have an announcement from Prime that they're starting this Wednesday (27th June) on 59.

At least PRIME have done something right for a change :P

Yes! :D

Had the notice pointed out to me this morning(the paper waved in my face anyway).

Noticed some wobbly digital reception now and then during the last week or so(could have been the weather too) and thought that was a good sign stuff was happening up at the Mt Taylor tower.
