Hi,

I have a Sony Bravia 32" V series. I have been trying to calibrate it using the "getgray" calibration disk, DVE, a Spyder2 colorimeter, and the HCFR calibration software.

I cannot get a good grayscale adjustment, and it seems to be the Sony tricking or misleading the Spyder2 device. The software graphs look ok (except for the CIE color chart which has the green primary WAY OFF!!). The RGB grayscale tracking looks pretty good in the calibration software, but in reality, the grayscale looks very very wrong.

Way too much red throughout the entire IRE range.

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this with Sony LCD's, and if so how did your calibration turn out?

Its driving me nuts. I have used the same equipment and software on my Panasonic plasma with excellent results, so its not me or my process...I dont think anyway...?:D

Does anyone tinker with Spyder2?

Sorry, no I don't, but have you looked at the Display Calibration sub-forum at AVS? lots of Spyder2 chat there... someone should be able to help. I think I read there recently that a bad calibration was improved by doing it in the dark - if ambient light can get into the sensor as well as light from the screen the calibration will be way off... I imagine the effect is worst with screens that have a second protective layer of glass at some distance from the actual panel. Is the V series like that?

I have looked and also asked a few questions on the AVS forum. So far I haven't really had any useful answers, so I thought I'd try here....

I did have the lights off. I'm not sure if the Sony has an extra panel infront....doesn't look like it.

I have come across an article by Sound & Vision mag and they talked about calibrating the Bravia's, and have suggested a few tips to try. I'll give them a go tonight...

See how things go.
