I'm sure it's not my imagination. Last year when the AFL was on Foxfooty channel the PQ was consistently good, often close to FTA quality.

This year so far it's just dreadful. Looking at the Adelaide/Essendon match on now it's close to unwatchable. What's the reason? Have they reduced the bandwidth?

I'm close to either cancelling Austar all together or at least giving up on the sports package.

What do others think?

Yeah me too. The PQ was much better last year for sure.

Just goes to show that yelling and screaming at AUSTAR for their "crap PQ" is just plain silly, as they don't decide the quality.

Maybe Austar don't decide this, but Aussie consumer rules do dictate its retailers who are responsible for the products and services they accept payment on. You don't see Woolies et al shifting responsibility for poor quality produce on to their suppliers - they exchange or give a refund. So Austar not only have a protected market they also shirk responsibility for the products they sell. It seems as if a very bad attitude has engendered itself down there. Why is it "plain silly" to complain when the service or product is not up to scratch?

Oh yeah and welcome back "Yell@Me" Happy Easter.

Was thinking the same thing watching the game last weekend.

The close shots seemed to have better picture quality to the distance shots.

Probably the source not the supplier. If you hop across to the Foxtel forum there's a couple of threads on "lousy foxtel PQ" that have been going on for a few months now, and most of the criticism seems to be levelled at the sports channels. Particularly noticeable if you look at the 'kiosks' operated by Foxtel in shopping centres in most urban areas. Often you can't see the numbers on the players' backs.

G'day,

This might explain something that has been bugging me and my mates for the past 3 weeks now. We've been watching some Fox Sports 1 AFL games, and time after time, no matter who is watching, the Number 9 on the scorebar is always mistaken for a 0, and the 6 looks like a 5.

This wasnt happening last year either, the scorebar was quite clear to read. But for some reason, it's confusing to keep score.

Some people think they've changed font, But I dont think it's that. The PQ might just be the thing thats causing it

Rugby League on Fox Sports is a crappy pic too. I find most sports on Austar look way worse than SD FTA.

If t's the STB's that cause this they should do something about it or actually allow you to buy a third party box. It's not like you're stealing if you bought your own STB.
