john I think you'll find they are zonned unless the chinese pirates worked away around this. means it will not play local region discs and you'll need to import discs or be very carefull to find region free ones.

good price though in HK. theyd probably sell a ton more of them here if they sold for that locally.

yeas Al

i looked into it a bit more and it said

will play all games

will play region 3 dvd movies and region A blue ray movies only

from what i gather we are region B for movies

so i'll have to import all my movies

give it some time and it will be down to the $800 mark

Yaa thats the thing. For ppl in aussie if we purchase from japan or somewhere we have to buy movies from there as well..

Which is i think a on goin pain :-s besides In japan it is 750 AUD and in Jb hifi i guess u can get it 960/970 so the diff is about 210/220 dollar but think the amount of time u can save later on .. plus just incase if something happens with japansee console u've to send ur console all da way back to japan where as if u buy it from here.. it is gonna be a lot easier in this case

What do u think guys?

thats the risk you take when purchasing overseas

my wife goes to HK twice a year for work so i have no problem purchasing from there

and i'm sure you can get it even cheaper if you try

i purchased my sanyo z4 last year from HK for $1300 haven't had a single problem with it and saved a bundle, even declared it at customs and didn't pay anything extra on it

Note strictly true. Yes you have to buy them from the same region (unless the disc it all regions). Which for a Japanese / HK console include the US, which is a HUGE benefit in my books. i.e. you can buy from Amazon, etc. Prices are and will be cheaper for a while, plus the selection is enormous in comparison to the local selection!

FWIW Ive ordered (like many others did some weeks ago) a 20GB PS3 with free DHL shipping from YesAsia for US$499 - works out to about AU$615 delivered. Sitting in Singapore today so wont get it till Monday, although I may drive to the depot tomorrow and see if I can pick it up.

Ok got it so U guys prefer to buy one from playasia (Doubt with warrenty) or from local market?

that is totaly up to you

if you want warranty then purchase locally, if you aren't fussed grab one from HK

we can't make that choice for you

Maybe just hang off a couple of months and see if prices start to come down here in Aus

70% of the games on ebay are in fact region free games as they also come from hong kong so you all set, personally i bought my ps3 from EB games for $699 , Hong Kong PS3's are not covered under waranty in AUS , but if u dont have the money then HK all the way
