Hey guys,

I bought this tv a couple of weeks ago from harvey norman for $2000 which im very happy with. Problem is it has shocking factory speakers so i now use my home theatre speakers all the time for tv (foxtel). Now this tv doesnt have an audio output so im forced to run foxtel through the amp then to tv. It means that when i turn off tv the audio is still coming out of speakers!!...so ive got to turn tv and amp on to watch tv and vice versa to turn it off..,VERY ANNOYING

Am i missing something coz i thought audio output was a common thing to have on tv's??? my old philips 68cm crt tv which i replaced with this had it and it was 8 yrs old

Also i bought some component cables for foxtel, the picture was worse than the standard rca plugs? i set foxtel to YUV etc as informend by domayne staff, but it didnt help it one bit. THey cost $170 which i was refunded, but i dont know why this was, anyone know why?

I hope i made these problems understandable to you all, im typing as im thinking so i hope it makes sense lol

The Philips support audio output through the Scart terminal (includes scart in the box with a In / Out switch), and has a coaxial digital ouput (usually a black or orage RCA terminal labelled S/PDIF out)

Look through the book and post again if you can't get it to work.

i dont think my tv has those options, it didnt come with the scart cable, nor does it have the s/pdif out terminal.

All the plugs seem to be all inputs except the headphone jack, thats the only output i can see.

here are all the connections

HDMI 2

HDMI 1

DVI (AUDIO IN)

CVI-2 / VGA

AUDIO IN

AV IN

CVI 1

And on the side of the tv s-video and av in plus headphone jack

not looking good hey

BTW model number is 42pf7421 if thats any help

cheers

Damn! do you think the headphone jack will do 5.1 etc ok through amp?

No, it's ONLY headphone out, and thus amplified, not a line out.

Mate, I just downloaded the manual from philips.com.au and I'd be putting the lcd on ebay and buying a replacement tv. The tv is pathetic in regards to inputs/outputs. Hope you got a good price, as it's quite an old model. The new model 32PF9631D can be had for around $1700 with a digital tuner, coaxial (digital) out, twin HDMI, and so on.

Otherwise, maybe use piggy back cables to send audio to tv and amp.
