rampar Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Hi, The Mg350-hd comes close but doesn't support the h.264 codec. Can anyone recommend a media player that would? cheers, Rob edit - EVA8000 will do it but not released as yet.
sulimo Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I think DLink puts out a product that does. A hacked XBox does...but not in HD.
ocujos Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 A hacked XBox does...but not in HD. XBMC can play H.264 but it struggles, even with SD material.
rampar Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 I emailed sales and looks like they have a capable box towards the end of the year. "Currently we are using sigma chipset 8621 for mg-350hd and this chipest dose not support H.26 codecs For our new model, we will use 8654 and it can support H.264 but will be launched on end of year."
rhubarbe Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Hi,The Mg350-hd comes close but doesn't support the h.264 codec. Can anyone recommend a media player that would? cheers, Rob edit - EVA8000 will do it but not released as yet. Here's a cut from the EVA8000 spec: • Digital Media File Formats - MP3 up to 320 Kbps or variable bit rate (VBR) - WMA8 and WMA9 files up to 192Kbps or variable bit rate(VBR) - WMV up to 1080p - Internet Radio (streaming MP3, WMA) - Video Formats: MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, WMV, Xvid - Audio Formats: MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, FLAC - Photo Formats: JPEG, BMP, PNG, TIFF - Playlist Formats: WPL, ASX, WAX, WVX, PLS, M3U, RMP If it did h.264 you'd think it'd say, Oi!
Mantorok Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Doesn't the Apple TV do H.264? And I think the "soon to be released" Beyonwiz can too...if you don't mind it having a dual-tuner PVR with it.
ChessKing Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 The new Tvix M-4100SH and M5100SH support H.264 and are suppose to be released at the end of April. Check out the thread at AVS Forum
sulimo Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Looks like you can add the 360 to the list of players. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2007/0408-im.htm # H.264 video support: Up to 15 Mbps, Baseline, Main, and High (up to level 4.1) Profiles with 2 channel AAC LC and Main Profiles.# Added MPEG-4 Part 2 video support: Up to 8 Mbps, Simple Profile with 2 channel AAC LC and Main Profiles.
rampar Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 The review of the eav8000 is quiet good, bit pricey at $500aud though. the 360 is looking the goods considering you can play games and now comes with a hdmi port and decent hard drive. http://reviews.cnet.com/Netgear_EVA8000_Di...7-32331171.html
