Cody
Just received this back...Sorry to reply you later a little, we just have a noon rest for 1h'. Don't worry, I'm glad to answer your questions, only you know the products very much, then you can buy it, right? There are 4 USB socket on PS3, so the IR receiver just engross 1 of them, so after you insert the IR receiver, then your PS3 can receive IR signal, then you can control it with that remote. PS3 controller, it is wireless, and keep in touch with PS3 with bluetooth technology, there is a bluetooth signal receiver in the PS3, so it will not be impacted by that IR receiver. they use different tecnology, and receive different signal. And for that button function, please see the pic at the attachment, you can see it very cearly, that pic can blow up. What do you guys make of this?. lol, can you find out where that guy is from, i want to move there! sounds fine, i read it there would be no impact to the Bluetooth controller (and why would there be?). for $35 it would be woth a shot imo. where do i sign? Guest EZYHD
Got the reply I wanted yippee... "Sure, you are right, when the IR receiver is left in your PS3, you can use PS3 wireless controller to play game without any effect. There is several buttons on the remote: one is "stop", when you want to stop, just press it (this button is on the right in row 1) one is "enter", after you choose a item, just press it (this button is on the middle in row 1) one is "play/pause", with this button, you can control the film play or pause (this button is on the middle in row 3)"
Guest EZYHD
Geez we are a lazy society aren't we. I have a Harmony Universal remote (885 - I think) and I am too lazy to replace the lithium battery in it which seems to have died, so guess what I'm back using all of my remotes, inmcluding the BD remote for the PS3. The problem I find, is that it turns the PS3 on too easily, you don't actually need to point it at he PS3, because of the bluetooth connectivity!. Maybe Logitech should bring out a Bluetooth remote, this would solve the issu eof IR extensions. rezok
Dont flame me. I picked up a stand from EB for the ps3 with this fantastic blue led surround light - $40. Not only looks cool with the led on, keeps the ps3 upright - but also comes with a mini remote control as well.
AndrewW
Not only looks cool with the led on, keeps the ps3 upright - but also comes with a mini remote control as well. I'm guessing that it's a Bluetooth remote ? Which is no use to those of us with programmable all-in-one remotes Andrew.
rezok
Admittedly its not a bluetooth remote - I believe its IR but as the ps3 doesnt do IR, the sensor must be attached to the stand. That said, it shouldnt be hard to program into my harmony as a "learn". There are only a dozen or so buttons on it....

sulimo
You know....JB already sells a IR remote for the PS3. Comes with a vertical stand of some sort too. For $30 IIRC.

Are you sure its IR?, the one I'm looking at is the only IR one I could find, heaps of Bluray ones available though on eBay $45. Do you have a link?. brett134
Just called JB and asked about it... at first bloke had no idea what i was talking about... He eventually found what it was... Its called "Game Equip" or something like that... he said it had no brand on it of who it was mad by.... It sounds like its the same one that EB has for sale, as it also has Blue LED's & IR remote... By the sounds of it the IR works through the stand which is connected to the PS3 via a USB port. So again i'm not to confident that you will be able to power on the ps3 with this. Anyway the missus is going to grab one for me tonight after work so i can have a play with it... I will test it all out (i have a harmony 880) and post the results here later tonight. The one from EB is $39.95 and the one from JB hifi is $34.95. But assuming they are the same unit i would suggest that if you are going to get on that you get it from EB as you can take it back for a refund if you don't like the way it works without any dramas. I'll post the info on it once i play with it. Cheers.
AndrewW
not trying to scuttle your import plans foxy, but I might check these out tomorrow. Sounds a lot easier than forking out $30K to import 1,000 of them from asia. Andrew.
brett134
Ok i've played around with the unit a bit... It connects via USB to the PS3 and the remote seems to be IR but it WONT power the unit which i what i guessed. But all other operations are all ok BD playback home screen navigation ect... To be honest it looks quite neat (I love blue LED stuff anyway, LOL) and it does spruce up the PS3 a bit, and the blue light/led can also be powered up by a button. I haven't had time to play with the harmony yet, i might try and do it tomorrow before work. Here's a link to what it looks like... although i must say it looks quite ugly in this pic but alot better in the flesh. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vertical-Stand-USB...3/dp/B000N22OTA Hope this helps. rezok
Yeah, can confirm no OFF/ON switch although you can do that with the controller - but agreed, not a perfect solution. And yes, MUCH better in the flesh than that photo.

Cheers. I've got one and mine is now setup on the Harmony. However everything works fine except the menu cursor controls (but OK/Select works!). I've re-learnt them numerous times. Interestingly the red flasher on the IR sensor of the stand doesn't seem to flash when I use the harmony for cursor controls yet when using the little tiny remote that comes with the stand, it does. Any luck your end? Matt
gusangora
Any more word on these, or other USB IR remote solutions? I tried plugging in an ASUS USB IR receiver but the PS3 didn't recognise it. A vertical stand is useless in my HT cabinet. Steve
