Thinking of importing a minimum 1000 of these.

http://img247.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p...vdremotesa7.jpg

Details:

1. Professional: designed for Sony PS3 Blue-Ray DVD - ROM specially, to solve the problem, and use an IR system on Sony PS3 instead of the Blu-Ray disk remote.

2. Manoeuverable: use remote to control; use IR receiver to receive IR signal; connect to PS3 with USB, plug and play.

3. Convenient: the maximal effective distance is 12m, so you can sit down on your sofa to control DVD playing without moving.

4. Smart: remote controller: length: 14cm; thickness: 2cm. IR receiver: length: 8cm; thickness: 2. 5cm; bright-black color

5. Safe: compliant for RoHS

6. Dependable: CE, FCC certification

If using the learning function on Harmony remotes (for instance) it will do away with Blu-Ray and therefore, just one remote to use for all gear.

any comments.

I want one.

Was wondering how I was going to get around the stupid BD remote situation.

Andrew.

When I get them I'll sell them to DTV members real cheap.

Just waiting on airfreight price from them, customs, gst and away we go. As advised I'll need to buy a 1,000.

Does the remote include a power on button. I couldn't tell from the pic, but there was nothing obvious. Discreet power on / off would be even better too!

The original XBOX remote couldn't power on the unit, which is a real pain.

Hey Fox,

What i was more asking was if the dvd playback was the only thing it controlled or can it control other aspects of the ps3 mainly the homescreen navigation.

Cheers.

Not sure think the button far left does it.

No worries. And great stuff.

I will only be interested if it definitely has a power button. I'd love discreet power codes, but I can live without that if need be.

Doesn't anyone like the BD remote, or is it the price?

It mainly benefits those with universal remotes which require IR codes/signals (not Bluetooth) and don't want to maintain a separate remote just for the PS3.

I may be interested in buying one of these down the track but since I've already acquired the Bluetooth remote I think I'll stick with that for the time being.

im in for sure, i refuse to use a second remote after forking out the $$ and invseting countless hours setting up my Harmony 880.

damn you sony - you call us "cheap people", how much would it have cost to put an IR port on the PS3...

My Wireless IR Control System is worth more than a PS3 60Gb so I was pi$$ed off when I found out Sony didn't include an IR Port and I would have to use a BlueTooth Remote. As a result of this I decided to hold off for the Sony BDP-S500 but now If this remote works well a PS3 60GB is back on the cards.

I got this back, re emailed Mr. Chow...

ok, let's explain it easliy to you.

after you insert that IR receiver into PS3, then the remote can control the PS3, just like your TV remote: turn on/off. When there is a disc playing in your PS3, it becomes a DVD controller. There is detailed function pic at the attachment, just check, that's our technology pic, you can know the controller function very well with it.

In a word, after the IR receiver insert the PS3, then you can controll your PS3 as your mind. What you want, what you can do.

So I've asked "can the IR receiver be left in the Playstation 3 and still use the normal controller".

I guess the senario is we get up to insert a disk anyway, so the plug could be inserted then, I'm thinking this may not be the goods as I thought, we'll see.

just thought I'd keep you up to date guys.

Fox.

It would be a bit of a problem if having this connected meant that suxaxis controllers stopped working, but I can't really see this being the case.

In response to the "why would you want one" ... because sony are tight arses and decided to save a couple of bucks by not including an IR port. This means that my fancy all in one remote cannot control the PS3 and so I need one controller for the PS3 and another for everything else.

Foxy, you can definitely put me down for one if the price is around $35, and if having it plugged in does not stop the normal games controllers from working.

If it does intefer with the controllers, I'd have to think about it.

Andrew.

Just received this back...

Sorry to reply you later a little, we just have a noon rest for 1h'.

Don't worry, I'm glad to answer your questions, only you know the products very much, then you can buy it, right?

There are 4 USB socket on PS3, so the IR receiver just engross 1 of them, so after you insert the IR receiver, then your PS3 can receive IR signal, then you can control it with that remote.

PS3 controller, it is wireless, and keep in touch with PS3 with bluetooth technology, there is a bluetooth signal receiver in the PS3, so it will not be impacted by that IR receiver. they use different tecnology, and receive different signal.

And for that button function, please see the pic at the attachment, you can see it very cearly, that pic can blow up.

What do you guys make of this?.

Geez we are a lazy society aren't we. I have a Harmony Universal remote (885 - I think) and I am too lazy to replace the lithium battery in it which seems to have died, so guess what I'm back using all of my remotes, inmcluding the BD remote for the PS3. The problem I find, is that it turns the PS3 on too easily, you don't actually need to point it at he PS3, because of the bluetooth connectivity!. Maybe Logitech should bring out a Bluetooth remote, this would solve the issu eof IR extensions.
