phase5 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Channel Ten pisses me off trying to use the rolling credits to squeeze in more ad time. Last night's brand new episode of The Simpsons was chopped off at the end whilst Homer was still talking. Could not agree more. And it's as bad as when they did double episodes in the past, dropping the closing credits that had similiar closings. Just working through the season 8 DVDs and found a closing credit sequence that I've never seen before with a rather funny gag. (The phone machine).
MattWinter Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Ten always cuts little bits out of the earlier episodes - since I've had foxtel (about a year and a half now) I've seen a lot of old episodes with gags in them that I haven't seen before.
Brazzwald Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 And as if we already haven't seen enough of the Channel 10 promo's this year, very frigging annoying. Atleast they didn't have to talk over it, still shrink it if they had to... Didn't they use that clip they cut off as part of the promotion of that ep as well? Brazzwald
Thudd1503560234 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I was taught that for movies, it was considered bad manners to walk out during the credits as it's an insult to all the people who worked on the film whose only public acknowledgement is their 5 seconds of fame as their name scrolls by. I would have thought the same applies for TV show credits - so that by shrinking them and talking over the top of them (or cutting them altogether to fit in more promos) they're giving the crew for that show a slap in the face.
phase5 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 When "New Captain Scarlet" was shown in the UK, the opening credits were cut, the closing credits were cut, and the episode was shown in two parts during a saturday morning "kids programme". It could start at anytime before going back to the presenter and you never knew when part two would be on. No wonder it didn't survive. We're not quiet there yet, but I can see it happening ......

Neon Kitten Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 ppl hate credits and leave in an instant. Speak for yourself. I may be the last person left in the cinema, scoring looks of death from the bored teenagers waiting to commence their cleaning duties, but I stay regardless. When I saw "The Castle" at Village's then-new Crown Casino cinemas, they were in such a hurry to get people out that they turned off the projector and closed the curtains as soon as the credits started rolling. I scored a free double pass out of that one, but couldn't bring myself to go back to that hell-hole to use the thing.
eyestrain Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 From the many comments it is good to know I'm not alone in watching a program to its very end. That so many programs have a 'sting' in their tale just shows that it is the Networks who either do not watch or do not care about the programs they screen. TEN/Southern Cross has begun screwing up the end of The Late Show With David Letterman. As many know there is a closing 'one liner' spoken by Alan Kalter. It usually gets cut off now. So even when we do get to see a program it is rare that we see all of it! Just futher incentive to BT!
