Just noticed an option for vertical drive frequency on the PDP-507XDA.

The user guide doesn't explain anything useful about it. I assume 100Hz is better?

From pg 46 of the PDP507XDA manual:

"You can switch the vertical drive frequency for screen display

between 75 Hz and 100 Hz. Choose the drive frequency that best

suits the broadcast signals in your area.

1 Press HOME MENU.

2 Select “Option” (i/j then ENTER).

3 Select “Drive Mode“ (i/j then ENTER).

4 Select “75 Hz” or “100 Hz” (i/j then ENTER).

"

Is this worth understanding?

Not really sure what difference it makes. PAL content is 25 fps, as long as youre using a multiple of 25 its probably going to be pretty similar.

I also figure it's probably unimportant. So many "features" to sound more sophisticated.

It annoys me reading "Choose the drive frequency that best suits the broadcast signals in your area." when they don't explain how to choose, or how to find out.

Agreed with you. I once read a dvd player manual which says

Sound output option: Select "bitstream" for bitstream, or "PCM" for PCM

(and that was it, nothing else on what is bitstream, what is PCM) !!

Holy cow ... as if I needed their instructions to know to select A for A, or B for B.
