Hi,

I've done a search for this, but can't seem to find a generic discussion of the DVD players out there that have Dynamic Range Compression. If there is one, please feel free to point me in that direction.

If there isn't one, perhaps this would be a good place to start?

So my specific question is, what upscaling DVD players out there have Dynamic Range Compression?

Cheers.

The Sony DVPNS76H we were talking about before has Dynamic Range Compression. I think the Panasonics have got it. Most DVD players will have this feature these day's.

Brilliant! Thanks for that. The Sony's looking like a good choice.

Is it something you can set and forget or do you have to set it for each DVD? (On my xbox, I have to set it on each DVD.)

Cheers.

My Samsung HD747 has it, but most players will have the setting (the decent ones at least) and you will only have to set it once.

I find that without DRC enabled, many hollywood movies have simply too much range and dialogue becomes inaudible.

I have a Sony (can't remember the model) and its DRC is completely crap. So much so that its been relegated to the spare room's TV.

I have a Philips DVD727K dvd player at least a couple of years old.

From the manual D.R.C (Dymanic Range Compression) The DVD player will compress the dynamic range of its sound output for late night listening.

Thanks everyone for your help. I've just bought the Sony DVPNS76H as recommended by JimboTHX1138. Just about to head out to the lounge room and set it up. Fingers crossed!

Cheers and thanks again.
