Hussla Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Contemplating getting a nice set of Wireless headphones to use for watching movies and most importantly playing games, either on the 360 or PS3 (whichever I get) Anyone have any recommendations? I'm after something pretty good even ones that can manage to achieve surround.
glennb Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Check these guys out. I bought mine (not wireless) from there and if you have any questions, they are very helpful. http://www.headphones.com.au/ ps. I have no affiliation with them, just a happy customer. And the return policy is hard to beat as well.

Have some Senheiser (spelling?) which are good however they irritate my ears after a while because I wear specs and they press the frames into my ears. Comfort is something you need to bear in mind but I think the full ear enclosing types work better sound-wise.

I'd be looking at something like the Audio Technica ATH-AD700. EDIT: Missed the wireless bit. Regarding something that can achieve surround sound you are best off getting some decent stereo headphones and then using Dolby Headphone or similar to get the surround effect IMO.
Hussla Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 I see Pioneer have a set of wireless Dolby headphones Pioneer SE-DIR800C $299.99 USD Can't seem to get them in Australia though...
Ted1503559509 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 you could always try the Zalman 6chan headfones and add a few 2.4ghz wireless modules. I have done same for stereo with video glasses. Look at Allthings.com.au and Ebay. These days you get small size and great (rechargeable) battery life.

Gutty Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 ?? Sorry I dont really get waht your getting at. They're headphone with 6 seperate speakers in them. Easy to hook up to the 3.5mm jacks on a PC, but for and AVR, i think you may need some kind of surround sound headphone amp. Don't quote me on that though.

Intriguing......although sounds like more stuffing around than required. I think the Pioneer I mentioned before might be the best bet but looks like i'll have to import or possibly speak to Pioneer Aus's rep for my work and see if they can source them.

Bose Triport OE $199, pretty impressive for the price (And I'm not usually a Bose fan) and are foldable with a nice case. Better than Seinheiser to my ears

big_marcelo Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I've owned a few sennheisers in the past... this is the first wireless one I kept .... very little background noise, great voice quality, 3d feel (SRS WOW) .... perfect for movies and gaming... although for music, I prefer the corded senns HD590 or 600 ... I picked up the wireless RS 130 for around $200 ... good stuff and extremely confortable to wear for long periods of time ..... battery life about 20 continuous hours of use.... max for me has been about 4 ..... once you experience wireless is hard to back to corded again .... its nice to also move around the house and continue to hear the show .... I use mostly for late night tv watching or gaming ....
