LukeF1503559517 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Well its been a few years since i built my first set of loudspeakers, they were for a year 12 project btw, and lately i just can't get the idea of building a new set off my mind. I was hoping for some suggestions/opinions on any diy loudspeaker designs/blueprints. The first set i made sound pretty decent IMO, im just looking to take it to the next level i guess, there also way too big. pics: http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/ffania/rightside.jpg http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/ffania/leftside.jpg I'll probably be usuing Vifa drivers as i think they are awesome quality for the price. My budget is around 1k for drivers plus materials. Cheers.

Im not really into DIY when it comes to speakers - but if I were you I would check out the VAF range of speakers - I beleive you can buy them as a kit and they do sound pretty good for the modest cost outlay.
LukeF1503559517 Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 Yea that was an option, although designing and actually building the speaker is where you get the "satisfaction". There must be some DIY speaker builders on this forum surely!
CAVX Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Yea that was an option, although designing and actually building the speaker is where you get the "satisfaction". Yeah, I agree. There must be some DIY speaker builders on this forum surely! HERE ARE MINE They cost a bit more than a grand though... Mark
jakes Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Yea that was an option, although designing and actually building the speaker is where you get the "satisfaction". There must be some DIY speaker builders on this forum surely! You might get more response and useful info at the DIY Audio forums, as speaker building and the like is the whole focus of the site. From what I've seen here, most people buy pre-built speakers (or occasionally kits like VAF), although there are a few who have built their own subs, as these are much easier to get right without a lot of mucking around, and are usually quite cost-effective. Edit: Well, it looks like there's at least one
