larry42 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/26/epson-a...080p-projector/ It looks like those not willing to settle for anything less than 1080p in a projector will soon have a slightly more bearable option at their disposal, with Epson today announcing its 3LCD PowerLite Home Cinema 1080, apparently the first projector of its kind to hit the $3,000 mark. In addition to that desirable 1920 x 1080 resolution, the projector also boasts an impressive 12,000:1 contrast ratio, along with the requisite HDMI 1.3 connectivity, and Epson's trademark "AccuCinema" lens system. All of which would seem to put it squarely in line with Epson's pricier 1080p PowerLite Pro Cinema projector released earlier this year. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll have to wait for the official unveiling next week to actually get a look at the thing, although it won't be long after that before you can get your hands on it, with the projector set to be available from all the usual suspects sometime in April. if this is $3000USD, it will be interesting to see what it goes for here in australia....
Muzzer Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I understand that it is already available in Australia under a different model name as shown here: http://www.epson.com.au/products/projector/emptw1000.asp The RRP here is $6,999 Oz inc GST which is a heck of a lot higher than $US3,000

Though there is always room to move on that price. Lifestylestore are, for example, offering a free BDP-1000 Samsung Blu-Ray player (RRP 1599) with every Epson TW1000 sold until the end of the month (31/3/07).

Projector central have a media release on their site for the 2 different 1080p models. The $3000 model has only just been anounced (powerlite home 1080) the more expensive version has been availible for a few months (powerlite pro 1080). In the past Epson models which are comparable to US spec versions have been quite a bit cheaper here in Australia we can only hope this trend continues. Brendon
Grubby Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 It might be worth keeping an eye on the pricing for these projectors
norpus Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 It might be worth keeping an eye on the pricing for these projectors Just saw one for 1st time in a HK shop . Very sexy looking beast in black I thought - it wasn't running tho. So much better looking than the odd Mitsi HC5000 - unfortunately that one looks as awkward in the fleash as it does in the photos. Supposedly both give a good image, so thats where it really counts
ajm1503559545 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I bought the TW1000 from PriceJapan last month and I've been extremely pleased with it. Compared to the AE700 I had previously it is a vastly better machine.
georgeb Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/26/epson-a...080p-projector/the projector also boasts an impressive 12,000:1 contrast ratio, This is probably a dynamic and not a native contrast ratio so its not that impressive given the state of the art. georgeb

But there may always be new deals in the making it just depends on where you are looking. Ben

Anyone wish to bring one along for a shoot out with the JVC HD1??? I know who will be the winner. I know a person in the KNOW who saw the dreambee, a meridian clone and the HD1 in Hong Kong. I know who the winner was. Thanks Ben
Hydrology Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Anyone wish to bring one along for a shoot out with the JVC HD1??? I I noticed Epson listed on your site. Surely you have one to demo?
larry42 Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 hi ben that's the question , i would assume that the jvc would be better than the epson the question is, how much better, and how much of a difference would i, or someone else see that would be an interesting comparison to view larry
benthx Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I noticed Epson listed on your site. Surely you have one to demo? Yes I can have epson as a demo. But the HD1 is my premier unit which is assigned demo status more ways than one. Thanks Ben
