divinewrite Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Hi everyone, Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but couldn't find a better place. I'm gonna buy an in-car / portable DVD player for the kids. Needs to have: 2 screens (for the back of headrests) 2 x headphone jacks (headphones, not earphones) 7" minimum display (actually I'd prefer 10") Speakers Anti-skip / anti-shock Min 2hr battery life Car charger + mains charger Screen angle adjust (would be nice) Carry case Multi-disc format support Multi-region support Anyone have any experience with a player that has these things? Any recommendations? Any gotchas to look out for? Anything else I should look for in an in-car dvd player? Cheers.
jokiin Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Most of the ones in the market don't have a battery
Doug1503559538 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I've been using a Shinco 7" from Strathfield for a couple of years now and it has been excellent. I originally wanted the dual screens - but found that it was very messy to strap them to the rear of the front headrests. It has a battery than can be charged form the mains or the 12v lighter socket. The centre console in my car flips over backwards and the DVDplayer sits on it (still strapped into the case). It works easily and can be quickly closed for security reasons if we need to park the car somehwere. Not as convenient as one of the built in models but for a touch over $200 you can't go wrong.
WayUpNorth Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 G'day, I've got the el'cheapo 'G-Vision' from the Warehouse. Cost $350. Plugged it straight in out of the box. No problems. Been going now for 6-12 months without fault. No headphone jacks. No batteries. But has straps built in for strapping to head rests. Remote control. Excellent little machine. 2 Screens. Good Luck.
divinewrite Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 Hi everyone. Thanks for your responses. Very helpful. I ended up buying a DSE (Dick Smith) 2x10" screen for $499. I suspect DSE isn't up there in terms of quality, but for the amount of use it'll get, I hope it'll do just fine. Once again, thanks for your help. Cheers.
