Thought I'd checked all clocks. Assiduously looked at the recorders my wife uses, checked all PVRs (some were a bit stubborn about accepting EST again) BUT overlooked the DVD-Rs which are only used on their external inputs, so messed up one recording which I very much wanted. The Wintal was the only PVR that needed no attention. It it can manage the change transparently, it is hard to excuse others for being such a PIA.

Still having trouble with the Mediastar 820. It corrected itself when tuned into a FTA channel but flipped back when recording Austar.

I guess if that is the biggest prooblem in life at the moment then it is sailing well, but it is irritating to be proven incompetent yet once again

Anyone else caught?

Simple solution, don't rely on the hardwware to do the change - I run everything with manual set clocks, so before going to bed on the Sat night just go around and change everything either fwd or bwd

Probably the safest. I was forced to do this with the MediaStar, a VCR (with HDD) and the DVD-Rs. One recording which bridged over the time change got corrupted as the PVR was unable to cope with what was going on.

The only issue I had was forgetting to patch my Win2003 Server with the DST2007 update and as a result my TED/S generated timers were all out by 1 hour - the Toppy 5000PVRt, ICE Guide & my MCE box all handled the change perfectly tho and once I applied the DST patch to my server and re-ran TED/S all was well.

What was the recording John? Someone may have captured it successfully elsewhere.

It was the 1.5 hour bio on singer Jesse Norman on the ABC Sunday arvo. It might get shown again on Ovation some time but the PQ would be better from the ABC broadcast.

If anyone has a good copy I'd be grateful.

TIA

Sounds like a Win2003 Server bug

No, actually it's my fault for never activating my copy of Win2003 Server and therefore not having a Functional Windows-update (goes looking for his genuine win2003 key to activate server properly).

aaah god bless mirosoft powered devices, I don't get having a PC in the lounge room. Where do you hide it? Hows the noise and how long does it take to boot before you watch or record? I'll stick to my trusty Toppy HD PVR and Sarotech HD divx player I think. God knows what demons Vista will unleash!

Although the in dash Sat/Nav in my new liberty didn't allow for the time change and it's set to clock off the satellites?? maybe the ground control stations software is MS powered also?

Oh thats easy, I just bought a high quality HTPC case for my MediaCenter PC but my file server (which runs TED/S) is in my garage along with all my Comms Gear.

Re: keeping things quiet, the secret is very few, but very large Quiet fans at low rpm's - my CPU has a 90mm fan, the case has 2x 80mm and the PSU has a 140mm fan and all are designed to be 20db or less at max RPM. I also run them all at the lowest RPM I can manage.

Re: Boot up time, what boot up time  it's never off but it does do a scheduled reboot every morning at 5am. :D
