MattWinter Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Can't wait - from memory the test game they did a couple of years ago was good - but a few things didn't help - for one they had SD graphics so they looked kind of bad. Will be very, very interesting to see how this broadcast is.

I think it was Sydney v Collingwood Matt noticed its listed as HD in todays The Sun Herald Guide and from Ten In a first for AFL, Network Ten will broadcast its prime time matches on Saturday nights as well as all its Finals and the Grand Final in High Definition Digital. yeeepppeeeeee well done TEN cheers laurie
anthonysimilion Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Yes, it's the first official Australian produced HD sport broadcast!
laurie Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Yes, it's the first official Australian produced HD sport broadcast! I hope Anthony EVERY other broadcaster watches this game including ch7 to see what they already know that Sports will lift HD profile and friend of friends with 1080P displays will invite mates over to watch the game in TRUE HD so this is extremely important not just for AFL fans but for Digital Broadcasting its a pity its not a 2:30pm game for all of those shoppers to see what it looks like on LCD/Plasmas/PJ and I hope TEN makes a big splash on opening credits:P cheers laurie ps I hope some smart retailers will record this on a HD PVR
Grampus Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I wonder if the HD b'cast will trickle down to Southern Cross as well?
k00k1503559827 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Yep, looking forward to this to see exactly how good it can look. Will be interesting. Not sure about the actual game. I think WCE may get whacked after all the 'distractions' of the last week...
laurie Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 I think WCE may get whacked after all the 'distractions' of the last week... lol or come out and smash the Sydney Swans cheers laurie
Guest mogadore Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 What a treat watch the swannies on my new lcd. So will this be better quality than the Rugby League broadcasts on channel 9? I have just bought a 40" Bravia V series (KDL40V2000) it was terrible quality on out of the box settings. Now I have tweaked it its very nice, the league looked good on HD - should I expect better quality for this AFL broadcast. k00k I think the weagles may go alright even with the distractions, hoping for a one point win to the bloods to keep the new weagles/swans competitive spirit going. Dont think its been greater than a 5 point margin for a few seasons.
k00k1503559827 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Geez, I dont know. The media saturation here in Perth regards Cousins/Kerr has been unbelievable this week. Hey, I'd like to be proven wrong, but they really are copping flak here...
wheelz Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 So will this be better quality than the Rugby League broadcasts on channel 9?. Now I have tweaked it its very nice, the league looked good on HD - should I expect better quality for this AFL broadcast. Mogadore The ch10HD footy (sat night games) will look much better than the league on ch9,ch9 was SD upconverted TO HD so it wasn't really HD
laurie Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 According to the Sydney guide for some unknown reason they list at 7pm Saturday March 31st the AFL match in Brisbane between Lions v Hawks as in HD if true then Ten must be doing more than one game in HD Anthony any help here!! cheers laurie
wheelz Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 edit.sorry laurie reread your post and now see what you mean It depends on what state your in and what game they put on fta,if you get the ch10 game on fta in your state it will be HD but if you get the foxtel game on fta instead (as often happens) you'll only get a SD game and the ch10 game will actually be on fox and in SD not HD. ps.not sure if i made sense
Foggy Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Excellent news, we'll be able to see the needle marks in WEagles players' arms. This is a fantastic coup for the AFL, and once again shows that their management and strategy is miles ahead of the NRL's amateur approach.
wheelz Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Excellent news, we'll be able to see the needle marks in WEagles players' arms. And we'll get to see their blood shot eyes and pinned pupils Wonder how good the eagles are without drugs
laurie Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 now,now guys I'm going to see them live and FLYING HIGH I was under the impression that Ten's HD AFL was a national signal but it appears they or whoever is doing it for them must have heaps of HD cameras to do local state games also I'm sure from memory the AFL insists that at least 13 camera[stand to be corrected] cover the game and in certain positions unless we have only a few HD covering the main game interesting! cheers laurie
MattWinter Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 edit.sorry laurie reread your post and now see what you meanIt depends on what state your in and what game they put on fta,if you get the ch10 game on fta in your state it will be HD but if you get the foxtel game on fta instead (as often happens) you'll only get a SD game and the ch10 game will actually be on fox and in SD not HD. ps.not sure if i made sense Actually if you get the foxtel game on FTA in your state you also get the same game on foxtel - ie. you get no coverage of the channel ten game (although you do get replays late at night on fox). This really annoys me, I wish fox could use the Mainevent channel to show the second game - so that when the fox game is on FTA, viewers in that state can watch both games on fox. As it is, people in NSW/QLD (the so-called non-afl states) get AFL live on Friday nights through the mainevent channel (none of these games involve swans or lions), while in SA we often get no coverage of some games untill late night because fox and fta are showing the same game - the AFL was so desperate to get live coverage of friday night matches into the northern states that viewers in SA/WA have been disadvantaged.
laurie Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 If its on the main event channel it will have ads[ch7 or ch10] as Foxtel just passes the signal straight through they always announce that some of the products may not be available in your area ONLY when it's on Fox Sports 1 its ad free cheers laurie
anthonysimilion Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 According to the Sydney guide for some unknown reason they list at 7pm Saturday March 31st the AFL match in Brisbane between Lions v Hawks as in HD if true then Ten must be doing more than one game in HD Anthony any help here!! I didn't even notice that, to be honest I don't really follow AFL closely. TEN.com.au is showing the Brisbane V Hawthorn game as SD. Other guides are showing as HD. But the Sydney V West Coast match will definitely be HD.
wheelz Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Actually if you get the foxtel game on FTA in your state you also get the same game on foxtel - ie. you get no coverage of the channel ten game (although you do get replays late at night on fox). yes seems like we've been stuffed over here in the west and i presume adel, the previous deal was much better for west aussies. But who know hopefully they'll see where its wrong and fix it,
minchjp Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I did a HD football schedule a while ago, it tells you all the games in HD this year (excluding the finals on ten and the grand final) http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=46473

anthonysimilion Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 But the list is incorrect if Saturday Brisbane game is in HD hey not blaming you minchip there could be as much as 3 HD games on Saturday prime time According to TEN.com.au, the Brisbane game is not HD.
laurie Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 According to TEN.com.au, the Brisbane game is not HD. That may well be true Anthony but Ten did say Prime Time AFL matches in HD it did not say Sydney only so others state viewers could well miss out pity cheer slaurie
