smallman Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Hi there, Just wondering anyone have owned and experienced the same problem. (Model details :Twinhan magic Box II USB connection) 1) Once recording started, you can't use the control panel to pause if you want to skip the ads - very annoying 2) The remote that comes with the box do nothing even batteries are inserted - do I need to run any software configuration ? 3) Is the Compro VideoMate U500 any better ? cheers Money down the drain.
Neon Kitten Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 1) Once recording started, you can't use the control panel to pause if you want to skip the ads - very annoying Not entirely sure what you mean here; are you referring to Twinhan's bundled "TwinhanDTV" software? I use WebScheduler almost exclusively with my MagicBox II. 2) The remote that comes with the box do nothing even batteries are inserted - do I need to run any software configuration ? You need to install the BDA drivers with the Twinhan Remote option. On the drivers currently available for download from their web site that is the default option. Money down the drain. Not at all, it's a terrific little piece of kit - especially at the price I paid for mine ($85)
joeybloggs Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 1) Once recording started, you can't use the control panel to pause if you want to skip the ads - very annoying On the contrary TwinHan (soon to be AsusTek I guess) are great value for money As far as skipping ads digital devices don't tend to allow pausing whilst recording because it would mean syncing to a start of GOP frame <google it> What you do is skip the ads during playback ie use software that allows you to instantly jump forwards xx seconds / minutes. Or if you are going to burn the recording to DVD then various editing packages will enable you to cut out the ads after recording but before burning.
