deang Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Hi to all. I'm thinking of getting the Digitech DG-HD160PVR. Twin High Def Tuner PVR seems pretty good for the price - $800. I am particularly interested in this model because it is icetv compatible. Does anyone have any opinions on the unit? It seems this is the only twin HD PVR that is icetv enabled. I havent heard much about them, maybe because they are not that good? Thank you, Dean
daskarzine Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I bought the 250 model. It's crap. Get a Topfield 5000 with SD tuners. If they had that in HD with same functionality and wireless ice tv, would be perfect
deang Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 I was spelling dgtec wrong, that's why I couldn't find any info on it. I've read the threads now and will keep clear of it. Its a shame because icetv is so good to use. Thanks for the info. Cheers, Dean
Arrowmaker Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Yeh.....Well.... I got a DG-HD160PVR ($A645) It's okay except that timeshift do'snt work. Rang DGTEC: no problems, simply upgrade to "new" firmware via USB key. Went an bought 1Gb Dick Smith USB key. No good (but it worked for MP3/ .jpg and ICE-TV). Rang back. Need to use 128Mb or less key. Went and bought 128Mb Dick Smith USB key went thought procedure emailed to me by the nice man at DGTEC. Still would'nt work. Now I'm going to try and get them to send me a USB key that does work. If they won't or can't, it's going back and I'll save up for a Toppy. Arrowmaker

Arrowmaker Visit http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=42788 to see all the other issues people have had with the unit, including mine. Having said that, mine is now working ok, and I've seen the unit for as low as $629. Quality control does seem to be a problem at Dgtec - I've had 3 HD PVRs (same model) pass through my hands and they've all add some issue with each of them. BTW timeshift works fine on my unit, but I run the latest firmware ..161001
mattbaj Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Does anyone have the upgrade files and instructions for the DG-HD160PVR I just got one for $280. It really does not seem to work very well. I have had a DG-SD80PVR for years now, works really well with the latest firmware, there are some glitches but if you know what they are you can avoid them. DG-TEC are going through a transition as they have been brought out by "Hills Antenna & TV Systems" so they haven't been much help. They have taken down the website before creating the new one(stupid) I have sent emails and rang but a week on and I have yet to recieve any files. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. cttc Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Read the thread you quoted. Especially:- http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?s=&...st&p=892530
Colin 2905 Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Does anyone have the upgrade files and instructions for the DG-HD160PVR If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Ah, triplicate post I see. I hope that you've subscribed to at least one of the threads, so that you'll see this...... Search this forum and you'll find a thread that deals with the DG-HD160PVR. Search that thread and you'll find links to where I've placed copies of the firmware on my personal web space for all to download. Note that there's different versions; USB port at the front, and USB port at the back. If after reading that thread you have any questions, post them there. Good luck.... you'll probably need it. These boxes are finicky about what they'll read the updated firmware from. BTW, the post that cttc linked to is for the the version with the USB port at the front. If you have one with the USB port at the back, there's different firmware for it. And BTW #2, I'm not subscribed to any of your threads, only the "main" one that deals with the DG-HD160PVR.
mattbaj Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Yeah sorry about that I am new to the site. I replied to this post as wannabettapic said he is running the latest firmware so I was hoping he might have the files But then I thought I really should start a new post as it was a bit off the subject of this post but I accidentally did it in "HD set top boxes", realising my mistake I made it in "PVRs, DVRs, HDD & DVD Recorders" sorry about that.
