Aesthetics Of Hd-dvd Players

Recommended Posts

Hi girls and boys,

I am in a toy buying mood at the moment and almost bought a Toshiba HD-E1 in HN yesterday, but upgraded my camera instead. Anyway, to on topic...

Am I the only person who finds the aesthetics of the current range of BluRay (or Blu Ray or whatever) and HD DVD (or HD-DVD or whatever, who names these things? Oops, back on topic) all rather fugly? I mean, none of them jump out at me and say "Buy me 'cos I'm cute!". Yeah, yeah, it's all PQ and SQ, but I've got to live with it staring at me from the HiFi rack

I am shortly going to be getting an entertainment unit made with tinted glass doors, so it won't be so bad, but I want something plain and minimalist that matches my Denon 1920, the Yammy Amp or the Sony HD PVR in the looks department.

Slightly on topic drift, do you experts reckon I'd be better off waiting for the XE1 rather than the E1 now? Big question, I know, bit if $$$'s weren't the issue?

I like the look of my HD-A1

Looks better than my Toasted Sandwich Maker PS3.

Haha, yeah, well it's pretty hard to see a PS3 at the moment that's not encased behind bullet proof glass, so I can't really comment on that one. Anyway, I'm not into games so that'd be a waste.

I quite like the photo's I saw of the HD-A1, but I haven't seen one of those in the flesh either :-)

Oh well, maybe we'll get there soon.

toasted sandwich maker?

I have the PS3 standing up and it looks bloody good... but then again beauty is in the eye oif the beholder.. :D

Youre right, beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, but thats about as far as I agree with you on this topic. The PS3 is simply a curved version of the original PS2, which was one of the ugliest components I ever had the misfortune to view with my own eyes.
