I know I may have been a bit slow here, but I was stuck watching the NSW Election coverage on the ABC tonight, thinking that I will have to Wait until 10.30 to watch The Bill , and on until 1.300am to see the West Wing. I switched over to ABC HD , and caught the end of the West Wing at about 10.30.

My point is why did the ABC not advertise that if you want to watch the Bill etc at the normal time............. Switch over at the normal time to your HD channel if you have it?.

Nothing is logical from inside the bunkers at tv stations, more so at the ABC, and even more so the arrogance of ABC NewsCaff who like to hog screens at a moments notice with total disregard for the schdeule and viewers, and hog screens with hours and hours of endless prattle and waffle.

Wasn't it one of the most boring election coverage's ever seen for one of the most boring elections ever!!

But don't think ABC NewsCaff who hogged NSW screens for a total of 4hours38mins would ever let on or advise viewers that if they so desired could watch normal network programming on HD Channel 20, I think not! The ABC is full of thiefdoms which exist in total isolation of eachother, and no way would ABC NewsCaff have advised those who had no desire to watch the boringness of the NSW Election could switch over to channel 20, that would be too damn logial. ABC NewsCaff is more instested in usual self serving, you should watch us, we set the agenda nonsense as usual.

And if the ABC had state based HD transmission equipment in each state, NSW viewers would have had no option but be forced to view the NSW Election on all main network SD and HD services, ABC NewsCaff would have prefered that if it were possible. Alas, it is fortunate in some ways that the ABC has only one set of HD ecnoders which can by default only carry the main network program stream to all national ABC TV transmitters in each state and territory.

hmm, so in other words the ABC multichannelled their SD and HD service and I totally missed it. Well, didn't really miss it, since I only tuned in to see the West Wing and went direct to HD, so never knew that SD was showing something different. Tho I guess this may have only been a Sydney thing, since I think the election coverage was on ABC2 here in SA (again, didn't watch it).

However, this is what Digital TV should be all about, across the whole country, you had the choice on which you wanted to see (of course one now wonders if in Sydney next week which eps of The West Wing will be shown), but putting all that aside, in many ways this was a good thing, only really stuffed up by the fact that they didn't tell anyone on-air what was happening.

But then when it comes to FTA TV here, the viewers are use to being treated like mushrooms.

The double episode went to air about 12.20am Sunday morning. Thanks to the pvr I didn't have to stay up to that time. Watched it this afternoon and it was excellent viewing indeed!
