Ok, this has been driving me nuts all day and I think I need info from people who understand the technology involved better then me. i.e is this hardware issue of (l)user error:)

Setup:

Topfield 7000HT -- (via HDMI) --> Yamaha RX-V1600 -- (via HDMI) --> Toshiba 37WL58A

Foxtel Digital -- (via RCA) -->

Sony DVD player -- (via RCA) -->

I have had no issues with this setup since I had it (~9 months ) then this morning I turned it all on it was working, turned it off, then 10 mins later I turned it back

on and I started getting "HDMI error/HDCP error" flashing on front of my Yamaha receiver when trying to watch Foxtel or DVD. I was still able to watch HDTV fine.

I was unable to get the OSD working for the receiver either.

After much stuffing around I discovered the following:

- If I change the connection between receiver and TV with RGB the Foxtel/DVD would work but HDTV wouldn't

- If I change the connection between receiver and TV with RGB the and between STB and receiver then everything works (but this it stupid and I want to use the HDMI as designed and it was working 24 hrs ago!! grr)

Basically it seems I can get HDMI output to work with HDMI input (but not RGB/RCA/analogue input) OR RGB output to work with RGB input (but not HDMI input).

To me it seems that the receiver isn't coping with a conversion process somewhere?? I have read the manual and tried reseting the unit to factory defaults in case a setting was changed

got change but no luck.

Any ideas? do you agree that it appears to be an issue with the rx-v1600

Thanks

happens with the 2700 aswell and i remember it happened but cant remember how to get around it, try unplugging it from the wall for a minute then plugging it back in. i know ist a problem which they cant sort out since its a hdmi error i think. try plugging a component cable in as monitor out and im sure it will work. as for the exact answer ring yamaha direct and they should be able to explain it better

Yeah I've had this with my Yammy 2600 once or twice and a physical power off/on always does the trick.

Thanks for the replies, I have seen people report the same issue but thought it was during first setup not after 9 months.

I tried the unplug thing but I was pretty impatient:) From what you say it's a transient problem (correct me if I am wrong) so I will try again.

Thanks..
