bigblue Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Hey guys, I have an opportunity again through a contact of mine high-up at a major retailer in Melbourne (can ship nationwide) to organise a group buy of blu-ray/HD DVD players. If we can get some numbers the pricing will be very attractive. If you are interested either reply or PM me with the following: 1. Model of player you are after (eg. Panasonic DMP-BD10) 2. State of residance All models/brands are available excluding Samsung. If you are after a panel in conjuction with the purchase this can also be arranged. Ill Kick this off: BigBlue 1. Panasonic DMP-BD10 2. Victoria I have done this for several other forum members with both the Pana and Pio panels in the past and has worked out well for us... List what you are after, i will collate and get pricing for what we are all after. Cheers Harry
50mxe20 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Does this include Toshiba HD-DVD players as well or just Blue-Ray?
bigblue Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 Does this include Toshiba HD-DVD players as well or just Blue-Ray? yes, any brand and format of player is fine - HD-DVD or Blue-ray. Includes Sony BR, toshiba HD-DVD, panasonic Blu-ray, LG etc. All models for each brand are available also. the only brand that is not available is Samsung...
momaw Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 yes, any brand and format of player is fine - HD-DVD or Blue-ray. THX1979 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 1. Can your mate make em region free for Blu Ray 2. Did he give u an indication on when certain models would be released ( eg the pioneer BDP-HD1)
djOS Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 1: Sony BDP-S500 BluRay Player (not due for a few months) & a Toshiba HD-XE1 HD DVD Player 2: Victoria cheers djOS
bigblue Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 but Sony and LG don't have BR or HD players in Australia (unless you are talking a GB on a PS3..... hi Momaw, that is correct -however for those that are after Sony, LG or Pioneer's new model etc, the group buy still applies when available. So to clarify for all, there will be an inital group buy on current players right away if there is enough interest, and another following the release of upcoming players which are all due very shortly. From what ive been told they already have indicative pricing on upcoming models and expected release dates so its just a matter of understanding what people want. Just list in your post the model you are after and I will put upcoming models into a second list and will get more info on release dates and indicative pricing. Any other questions let me know
momaw Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Good on you for organising this bigblue. Since I already have a PS3 and a HD-E1, I won't be participating. I'm waiting for a 1.1 compliant BD player (which has unfortunately been pushed to October this year, preferably dual format and region free) before I buy another. But for those looking for either format here and now, this could be a great opportunity. Andrews recent GB on Yamaha 2700 AVR's was a great success with massive saving for those involved. I wish you all the best of luck because regardless of your format of choice, HD is a wonderful viewing experience whichever format you prefer.
bigblue Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 1. Can your mate make em region free for Blu Ray 2. Did he give u an indication on when certain models would be released ( eg the pioneer BDP-HD1) Hi william, in response to your quesitons: 1. To be honest not sure - will ask the question regaridng region free for Blu Ray 2. Yes they have an indication on when all upcoming models will be released, I will get this info and let you know you about the Pio BDP-HD1 (from everything ive read, great player - considered waiting it out myself but am going to go with the Pana BD10 for now)
