Eth Nick Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I think the PQ of this movie would have to be up there with T3 from last week - some of the best i've seen. Didn't pay much attention to audio, since I wasn't tuned in for too long, but it was in DD5.1 PQ was amazing though. Anyone else catch it at all?

Yep....I watched the last half of it and it was sensational PQ. DD5.1 was very good too. I run a 7.1 set up and got very good channel splitting. With the helicopter scenes all 4 of my surrounds were working beautifully with the audio feed from Ch 90. Sometimes with 5.1 broadcast my side surrounds get all the info & my surround backs aren't noticed but last night audio was as good as PQ.

It was great.Anybody notice any noise spikes. About three times in two hours there was a sharp crackle through the system. Some sort of interference I'm guessing but I've never heard it before.

I got a momentary, split second audio pause in one of the scenes during the time I watched but wasn't a "crackle" as such. Figured it was a tiny glitch in the broadcast.

aflman Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Lyle, after checking with one of my boys, it didn't happen the Friday before during Terminator 3, so I reckon we are close on the money that it was a broadcast glitch than anything else on our end.
Eth Nick Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 'Sharp' noise would be a better way to describe it. Anyway I'm hoping the same. Like the noise you sometimes hear when movies cut to commercial breaks as the audio format converts, especially on Ten? (It's like a high pitch, short crackle).

This is a once off during that movie only. Never heard it before or since (so far). If it's just me then I have to worry that there is some line interference. But if doesn't happen again the worry will dissipate quickly. Anway I really enjoyed the movie. Three of us watched it and nobody fell asleep. Doesn't happen that often in our household and we all seem to work too hard and get overtired. Like the review said, it was a bit shallow on explanation and in-depth politics but a good B grade yarn just the same. Pic quality looked good even on my old 80 cm CRT so I wondered if it was Hi Def?
Eth Nick Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 It was definitely HD. My TV guide (Herald-Sun Guide) didn't mention HD at all, but yeah, it was HD.
dacre40 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 The picture quality was quite good. To me a good example of what HD should be like (justifies to the wife why we spent the inheritance on the new plasma etc. ). Got those sound spikes/surges about three times too. (thought it was the erratic Perth power supply )
drsmith Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I watched Terminator 3 last week and Tears Of The Sun last night and found both to be absolutely spectacular. In one scene the "crows feet" around Bruce Willis's eyes were just so vivid and that was at a viewing distance of 3.5m. Some of the scenery was absolutely breathtaking.
merovingian Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I agree about the PQ. Noticeably better than The Sweetest Thing which was running on 10 at the same time. In fact I reckon Bruce's fake stitches looked way too obviously fake!
