You wait by the letterbox for the next 3 months. My Spiderman 2 UMD took that long to come

Thought as much. Shame you can't log into your profile and see what member number you are like you can with these forums!

That would be very cool.

Well, how do you?

I think Sony said they had 10,000 pre-orders. I don't even think they brought 20,000 consoles into the country for launch. I'd say you're one of the 20,000 if you bought a PS3 today... The cynic in my says you could still make the first 20,000 if you buy a PS3 any time in the next 2 months...

With 40 people at one of the biggest launch parties, and some people saying some major stores only sold like 2 the following day, you could almost be really cruel, and suggest as long as you buy one before Christmas, your probably good for a copy...

The terms of the promotion said you would be waiting "at least 45 days for delivery".

So I wouldn't be expecting them any time soon.

You'd be able to pick it up in the bargain bin by then :D

The chances are the disc hasn't even been 'pressed' yet !

It's like promising a kid a new bike when you win gold lotto.

Sony treats it's consumers as though they were urchins or bottom feeders.

How loathsome is that not to include the disc with the machine,it would be less than a dollar to make and package, postage would cost more.

So does anyone know if you use a pre made account and accosiate it with your master acccount... does that pass as created an account like they say you need to do?

The conditions said it must be your first registered master account.

I tried BlackHawk Down BR (Amazon import) on my PS3 yesterday. The PQ was nothing special, certainly didn't get anywhere near the wow factor impression that I got when I tried HD-DVD on my 8720 for the first time. Actually I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the BR and DVD version after VP30/ABT102 processing. Also the SQ seemed slightly compressed over optical and it was crap over HDMI, I just didn't get the surround sounds effects impressions that I was expecting. My sound system is high-end and I think it was revealling the inadequecies of the PS3 for SQ.

I have seen better PQ with many FTA HD broadcasts, eg last night on 9, Rising Sun or whatever it was called (Bruce Willis), excellent SQ and good PQ (except for the crushed blacks problem from the Toppy PVR).

It's not all negative. PQ from video gaming is very good. Mind you I'm jumping from PS1 to a PS3, having skipped buying a PS2. PS3 pumps out alot of heat so keep it well ventilated!

All this is OT but what the heck, I'm not starting a new thread for this as anyone reading will probably be interested in these observations.

You did watch it past the initial grainy bits, right  ?

I thought the PQ in Black Hawk Down was variable, brilliant in some parts, OK in others.

I wouldn't blame the PS3.

Blame the transfer.

Casino Royale, for instance, looks bloody fantastic. As good as any HD DVD I own.

You're running Uncompressed PCM through HDMI right?

Make sure you select it in the Black Hawk Down Sound options. You should be blown away by the PCM track.

I guess as others have mentioned we will have to wait. The other thing you could keep an eye out for is the Playstation site. If they remove the details for the promotion, then you can assume you are one of the 20,000.

It would be nice if you did receive some sort of confirmation advising that your copy will be posted ...eventually.

Well I contacted Sony and put this question to them. The guts of their response is as follows:

Thank you for your recent email.

If you have registered via your PS3 for the Network Platform and you were one of the first 20,000 to register then you should be eligible. All copies of Casino Royale will be dispatched on the 11th April to coincide with it's Australian release.

We are unable to confirm if you are eligible at this point in time. If you have any further queries, please contact us on the number below.

Guess waiting is the only option.

I thought you're purchasing a US copy momaw?

I noticed a number of the stores up here have cut the price to $899 and throw in a BD movie of choice.

I have.

That's still $300 too much.

Toshiba must be totally delighted with the PS3's launch given all the money spent on Sony's advertising campaign.

I wonder if ACA will highlight Blu-ray's resounding success.

Sorry, I am just being cynical ........HJ where are you ?
