mello yello Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Yep it's true the first Coalition backflip has been detected. Not huge and rectified immediately but a backflip nonetheless first coalition backflip has been detected ? ...theyre not even in government !!! not huge? how is it not huge? its MASSIVE it represents how capable they are of breaking pledges, it shows how easily they can reneg, and what else will they flip flop on after Saturday, heaven forbid they should actually achieve power ? here is a party, 48hours out from an election, and they cannot even agree or stick to a consistent policy regarding something as important as internet censorship...flip/flop/flip/flop... ...how can they be trusted to keep their other promises (another one fell by the wayside today) and what makes you think a party in such dissaray can be better than the current government ? sorry Aloy, Im sure you will reply with some sort of smug attitude predicting an election outcome before a vote has even been cast, and somehow that makes you feel better to be disrespectful towards those who dont vote the same way you do, by the speaking of the way you vote...i thought you said you have never voted Liberal, back the wrong horse previously as well did you?

Heh heh Nathan Rees on the Drum tonite said he thought the whole thing was a perfect political mistake - to explain that - Abbott gets credit from regular folks for fessing up, taking the blame, and correcting the error. Something Kev could never - ever do - unless of course he was saying it on behalf of those who are human enough to actually make mistakes. You may not like my "smug" (I would have said insightful ) attitude but then I'm open to what an ALP ex premiers says, just as I am to what Richo says - in fact I can't remember the last time I quoted Abbott!!! And yes it's true - I have never voted Liberal - so far. Just as your fellow anti Coalition posters provide their opinions one feels that such a right should be universal. Smug that - mon ami! Having said that, one wishes all ones fellow forum members a hassle free vote,
JSmith Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 And yes it's true - I have always voted for One Nation or the Shooters - so far. Fixed. JSmith
mello yello Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Heh heh Nathan Rees on the Drum tonite said he thought... I dont care what Nathan Rees said, I want to know what you think i accuse them of being frauds for being unable to even withstand an election campaign, let alone a single term in office, before they betrayed their newly found supporters jimminy cricket, do you have an independent thought in your head you know, merely voting independent doesnt make you independent Smug that - mon ami! nahh, smug this... http://dontbe.com/ this guy represents a lot of under 25's who didnt participate in any of your polls because quite simply, they dont use landlines, they rent apartments and use mobiles, so they werent polled another piece of smugness you might want to stew on before tomorrow night is the results of this late poll in the SMH...seen at the bottom of another anti-ALP editorial, ironically titled Australia deserves a government they can trust out of over 60,000 people who participated in the poll and were asked "who will you vote for tomorrow", the results show ALP 36% Coalition 25% Greens 13% Other 26% thats a huge "other" and 25% is hardly enough to even form a minority party let alone government you might get a bit of a surprise come tomorrow ...Mr Hewson
mello yello Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) heres what Jesse Richardson from Brisbane had to say about the threats against him over that website... This website was put up on Wednesday the 4th of September at approximately 2am and has blown up something crazy since then. In 24 hours it received over 200,000 Facebook likes. This is likely an unprecedented social media statistic in Australian politics. Visits to the site crashed my server and my account was suspended. I then had to go to a cloud-based serving solution and redirect traffic to dontbea****ingidiot.herokuapp.com to be able to deal with more than 1400 simultaneous unique users accessing the site. As a result of this my Google analytics data can't track exactly how many people have visited the site, but I estimate it to be between 750,000 to 1.25M visitors in the first 24 hours based on existing data. This equates to approximately 2-4% of Australian voters. My ISP contacted me on Wednesday afternoon to let me know that the federal opposition party's lawyers* were demanding my personal details. Despite this being a personal project not paid for or endorsed by anyone, I gave them permission to hand over my name, address, and phone number so that the site could stay up. Approximately one hour later I received several phone calls making implied threats about my professional career. Who exactly was responsible for these phone calls isn't entirely clear, but I do have the phone number of one of them at least. I want to use this opportunity to make it very clear that this is a personal project and has nothing to do with my employers, associates, friends or family. My personal information has been shared online with no small amount of vitriolic name calling. Attacking my views and whatnot is fine because clearly the rant on this website is pretty, well, sweary and ranty, so you've got to expect a bit of to and fro. However, I'd ask that the media and people from the LNP and their associates please not post personal information relating to my family or other people or organisations that I'm associated with as that's not really fair. Attack me, my website, the content and political arguments all you like, but leave other people out of it, please. This site was created because I, as an individual, genuinely care about the future of our country and our planet. I'm not a Labor party member, and in many ways my political views align with The Greens and others too. However I also believe that the Australian Labor Party is a much better choice to lead this country over the next three years, and that they've done so many really positive things for us recently and in the past. Things like Medicare, floating the Australian dollar, investing in education infrastructure and the Gonski reforms, looking after people in need with DisabilityCare, and lots of other social justice issues that have made our country a better place. I'm really worried about what's going to happen to our hospitals, schools, and people who really need support in our communities if the LNP secure government this Saturday. Also it’s worth noting that I realise that there’s more to political discourse than swears and hyperbole. This site is intentionally profane and somewhat simplifies policy issues for dramatic and comedic effect. In light of some of the attacks that have been made against me and people close to me, I'm not going to be giving any spoken or filmed media interviews. However, you're welcome to email me at dontbeaneffingidiot@gmail.com Jesse Richardson, Brisbane. *Update: It has recently come to light that the lawyer who contacted my ISP was representing himself as being from the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, but despite being previously employed by the LNP says he wasn’t acting on their behal Edited September 6, 2013 by mello yello
Aloysius Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 I dont care what Nathan Rees said, I want to know what you think i accuse them of being frauds for being unable to even withstand an election campaign, let alone a single term in office, before they betrayed their newly found supporters jimminy cricket, do you have an independent thought in your head you know, merely voting independent doesnt make you independent I think with regard to the particular issue -internet filtering - that it was a tired mistake and required a demonstrable backflip. I think that what was apparently a policy aimed at kids smart phones was then morphed into general censorship by an ill prepared spokesman and an eager political opponent. The generally incredibly well disciplined campaign run by the Coalition showed that it is not free from error - and it made one. How significant is it? Negligible it can be seen for what it was and gain stronger support from the already convinced Coalition supporters - 54% of the tpp and more rage from the anti Coalition folks - a minority. Net result: it helps Abbott. Now you may not be convinced by that thought train but it has credibility. Independent is Independent, but this election may be an appropriate time to take stronger action!!!!! That's what I think! You have a lovely day, full of independent thinking, you too may get an urge to make a difference.
