I haven't watched Ten's HD channel for about a week so this may be old news but for the first time tonight I noticed a new (bigger) watermark both on the end of Saving Babies and during Law & Order S.V.U. The sharpness of the text during credits (and the watermark) makes it clear it really is in HD and not being upconverted.

I should add that I happened to find out from a Ten technician here in Adelaide today that Adelaide is the first market being upgraded to their new HD suite over the next month, with the other cities to follow in turn. Apparently it changes the way material runs through their systems, so that everything including ads & promos will run first through the HD system and then be downconverted to SD or left alone as required. It also means they will be able to run HD promos, and opens the way for HD ads as well. I'm no technical expert so if I misunderstood what he said perhaps someone else here with more knowledge on the subject could correct me or explain further.

Anyway, I had taken it that this upgrade would occur within the week, but given the new watermark perhaps it has already taken place within the last few days, perhaps even today. Could someone from any other city confirm whether there was a HD watermark tonight?

If not, then this might be a taste of things to come for all cities, and that Ten's HD watermark-free days may soon be over!

And if that wasn't bad enough, the end credits of SVU were vandalised just the same as on the SD channel. I made some screencaps below to illustrate.

I will be calling Channel Ten tomorrow to complain. Perhaps if enough people do so they might reconsider.

PS: I just noticed there is another thread on the topic - It took me a while to figure out how to upload images, and I guess someone else beat me to it.
