ozboy Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Will we have something by the end of this year? Anyone got definitive information?
Ata Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Blu-ray -R and -RW disks and PC drives exist as we speak. Real-time AVC encoders exist as we speak in HD videocameras. Putting 2 and 2 together it should not be a long wait. With HD DVD it is a different matter -- I don't think -R -RW exist yet. -- Ata

HoffY Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I'm waiting for the spec's of BD Burners to become a bit better (who wants to wait 90minutes to burn a DL BD!) and media to drop a bit more in price, then i'll jump aboard. Lets hope DL media doesnt go the way of DVD DL.... Looks like it already is though.
sulimo Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 http://www.dvdforum.org Though there is quite a difference between spec approved and drives on shelves.

diesel Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Models like these seem to be available from all the major manufacturers in Japan. Is the high price of entry and possible small market limitations to their success if launched in Australia? These would be the DVDR/PVR killers IMO. Two New Blu-ray Recorders by Mitsubishi The new lineup includes the DVR-BZ200 equipped with 500GB HDD and the DVR-BZ100" that comes with a 250GB HDD. Pices in Japan are expected to be 200,000 Yen ($2,000) and 160,000 Yen ($1,650), respectively. Both new devices support recording of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video on on BD-R/RE media, as well as MPEG-2 video, the standard for digital HD broadcasts. In addition, the devices offer support for Panasonic's AVCREC technology, which allows recording of HD video with AAC sound on the hard disk and then to DVD-R/RW media (VR mode/video mode). The recorders also support dual recording of HD broadcasts, and can record two digital HD broadcasts simultaneously.

They will come eventually but we're a limited market here.
