rebel1 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 On ebay there are plenty of people selling plasma's. They say new in the ad. But as you read the fiineprint it says fully refurbished. Is it illegal for them to state new?
Zacspeed Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I guess technically its not new, however the refurbished items generally come with the full warranty but unless they are a authorised reseller, that in itself may cause warranty issues. Some warranties are not transferrable, meaning that the original purchaser is only entitled to claim warranty and once the item changes hands it becomes void. So re the Ebay situation the warranty would be for the ebay seller. Im not opposed to refurbished items as in most cases they are items returned under warranty so theyve been fixed, tested etc. Generally cos of the QC, testing etc they are more reliable than a Brand New item. But they are used items. As for describing something as new, particularly on ebay,i doubt at law it holds any weight. What is the definition of new??? I mean it could be swayed to make a refurbished item to fit the criteria. Also be careful with the refurbished Plasma's. I know people buy them on Graysonline for example and sell them again on Ebay. But these plasmas generally are sold with dead pixels or other permanent issues.
