vikc Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Hi guys, I just received the Z5 by DHL which I ordered a couple of days back... The packaging scared me coz it was all torn n slightly wet etc...but the main thing..the projector was housed safely in its case inside... Well,it has cables which wont go into the Aussie plugs..so do I run to the shop n buy myself a Japan plug to Australian plug convertor? or is there any other way out. And it also has a kind of jack...the leaflets written in japanese..but just two english words ...Dc to Ac...so do i need to put this jack on the plug when I use the projector? thanks a lot guys... take care cheers vik

Re plug, I'm guessing it is a standard IEC power lead, which you can get (aussie version) at Dick Smiths for about $5. You could get a universal plug, but I'd replace the whole thing IMO.
voicecoils Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Yes, get an aussie powercord, just bring the japanese one with you to insure you'll get the correct fit on the projector end. I'm still using my US cord with a small adapter on the end with my Z5, the projector itself does all the power switching.
mtchye Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 A friend of mine sent me a Z5 but it says 110v only. I have a transformer but it says it does 250VA for 110v and 125VA for 240v. The Z5 apparently draws around 220v so I was wondering if any electrical gurus can tell me if it will be safe for me to plug in this projector into this transformer?? Do I take the 110v rating or the 240v rating? On another note I'm guessing that there are two versions of the Z5 sold in Japan, with pricejapan selling the auto switching one and most japanese retailers selling the non-auto switching one. Just a warning for anyone looking to buy from Japan. Cheers mtchye
Guest EZYHD Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 You should be able to get an Elnglish manual off the net.
flukeyluke Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I think if you message PriceJapan they will email you the english version of the manual

Do I take the 110v rating or the 240v rating? I have a power metering device which gives me some info: My Z5 draws 192VA on my settings (eco lamp mode). From the wall: Voltage: ~237V Frequency: 49.9Hz Z5 consumes: Amperage: 0.81A Power: 161W I would not suggest using that transformer. Your plugging it into a 240v outlet so you need to take that rating. 192VA is considerably more then 125VA.
