mindworx Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 We are a medium business currently searching the market for Projectors. We are seeking advise on purchasing two projectors. Their purposes will be - - running small group training sessions using powerpoint presentations - running simple data (such as sales figures) throughout the day We will purchase an Apple macbook to run the presentations and a cheaper PC for the second. Any suggestions on laptops would also be helpful. Note that we will be needing the projectors to be capable of showing images and data in borad daylight as we were also thinking of projecting images and/or advertising onto our windows. Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated. Ta
ajm1503559545 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 What you're after is a data projector rather than the home theatre type that we tend to concentrate on here in these forums so I suggest you have a look at something like c|net.com for recommendations. HT projectors tend to be very different in design and function since they're made to watch movies and TV shows and are supposed to be as faithful to the original picture as possibel. Also they're designed to do this type of thing in fairly dark conditions. Data projectors on the other hand tend to be much brighter and are designed more for lit rooms. You'll find that most PC retailers will have a stock of a few different types so I'd read up on a few different types and good have look. Best of luck.
Aspect Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 For presentations in high ambient light, you'd be best to go for something at about 3500 lumen. I presume the projector will be fixed (ceiling mounted) and taken around as a portable unit? Also, showing data like excel spreadsheets will require decent resolution - 1024 x 768 at a minimum. Anything under that, and the figures and spreadsheet become all jagged and unpleasant to look at. You'd be best to speak to a dedicated company that specialises in corporate installations. I can't PM you cos you don't have enough posts. Drop me an email at chris.young (at) bentley.com and I'll put you onto the guy who supplies me Australia wide. Very good service, excellent advice, and they'll bring a bunch of projectors out to your work and demo them. Cheers, Chris
