pgdownload Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I find that with "reality" shows such as 24 and the like, the way they shoot the show with the cameras wobbling around abitThat's a concious production decision. These days a couple of hundred dollars buys you software which turns your hand held wobble into rockstead film. Regards Peter Gillespie
Fokker70 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 A great test for motion sickness is 'The Bourne Supremacy" It has some of the most annoying camera movement in the history of film and it's relentless for the entire movie. "10.5 Apocalypse" gets my vote. Zoom, zoom, zoom and I'm not talking about Mazda's. (Bad brakes btw! )
dixie Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 Hi Guys, Many thanks for your replies and very helpful information. I think I have decided to go with the new Samsung when released, but will probably stick with the 40" model. I still have concerns with motion sickness, as I watched NYPD on Austar the other night, on my LG 68cm TV and due to the erratic camera work on this show, it still gave me a headache and I had to keep turning away all the time. This would really be accentuated on a big screen, as it was on the 42" Pana I had to send back. So....I believe 37" may be a bit small and 42" and above may be a little big, so I will try for the middle and go the 40". I understand 1920x1080 is probably overkill, but I want the best I can buy and it will be future proof anyway, as more and more true HD content becomes available. One question I didn't ask was....how good does the 1920x1080 sets display SD free to air TV, Austar and older type DVDs. I have been led to believe if the input signal isn't very good, the picture quality can be crap on these high end TVs, as they only respond well to an excellent input. Thanks again for your excellent input. Regards...........Dixie.
