Hello everyone,

I'm trying to figure out what HD Ready means, I'm going after a Sonic 32" LCD, for about $896 - and it's 'HD Ready' - what does that mean in terms of resolution, tuner, etc?

Thanks,

lieb39

Thanks Lyle..

Is there anywhere I can find out what's the optimal size for my television for my viewing distance from the television?

I'm sitting approximately 2.5-3m away from the tv.. (Small room)

Cheers!

There's no scientifically correct answer for this, so it depends on whom you ask.

Owen will say nothing less than 70" while PanaSung'd say 28" is about right :D:blink:

Seriously 50" is a good size for 2.5-3m, maybe feeling a bit big at first but then you'll grow into it.

Try using the search engine. Search on "distance" or "chart" or "calculation" and read the FAQ's.

Here's a place to start but there has been so much written on this. Search and ye shall find.

I cant beleive u have asked this question, when the same question has been asked umpteen times and a thread is still on the front page concerning this.

If you dont know by now what it means, its best you dont purchase a TV at all, it will open too many other queries for you.

"Where is the ON switch?"

Wow - nice to see there are helpful members on this board and some not so. You know, that reply wasn't needed at all - maybe you could have spent your time better rather then replying.. like going outside and getting some exercise.. ass.

Agreed what he says was harsh. I'm not sure if you are aware or not though but on the front of each forum there are Stickies. I suggest you have a look at them as both questions ahve been covered in there somewhere

Haha this is is a bit much - but in anycase, I do recognize that I jumped the gun and posted before I searched - not a desirable method of finding information on a forum - but to be blunt, spacecowboy was being an ass.

Anyways, onwards I go.

Cheers

Effort is rewarded. Non-effort is not. Pretty simple really. However, we were all new here once and my philosophy is to cut one a bit of slack until it is more obvious which category a poster falls into.

If interested read the Forum Etiquette guidelines and also Albonau's FAQs linked in my signature.

I said that 76cm TV's were a viable option if you were a heavy Foxtel user, however, a 32 is desktop and bedroom only for HDTV......you'd be surprised at how much bigger a 40-42 is, so if you really want some impact, get a 42.

I wouldn't get a 50 for a 2m viewing distance, but 2.5 might be okay.

Forget anything bigger than 55in...they're f...ing MASSIVE.....they look much, much bigger in your home than they do in the store.....also forget about asking Owen noobie questions, cause one way or another he'll try and steer you towards 60-70 SXRD's...LOL.

Just trying to make a point.

And btw, you're probably someone with a sizeable porno collection trying to pass himself off as a morally righteous individual

Is this the best you can do to address my response to your point ?

I'm trying to figure out what HD Ready means ...

I quite like my description here. To quote the 12th Man's Richie: "Yep, well I couldn't agree with me more on that one".

Funny how we can get so upset by a repeated thread that we could simply redirect in one post and then let die, but at the same time we're happy to bang on with the same crap again and again and again.

Don't get me wrong, I reckon the seach tool is massively underused too. But then again I'm always asking Ms MM to find me something in the fridge or pantry... :D

In the morning I get up and have a shower and feel rosy all over.

Tell us more about Rosy.

ooh! I've just realised I now have a big one :D
