A couple of weeks ago I bought the equivalent LG model (DBRH197) and have discovered a serious flaw with it: it cannot timer record whilst playing another title. The unit must be turned off for the timer to be active. From what I can tell, the Sony does not have this problem, but I have some additional questions regarding: - watching titles whilst timer recording: Can you be watching one title and a timer recording starts in the background? Also, can you start watching a timer recording before it has finished recording? - support for divx on the hdd. Can you copy divx files to the hdd, or can you only watch them off dvd? Every time you watch an NTSC divx file, do you have to change the colour system to ntsc? (see manual p88) - epg support for timer recordings: can you set a timer recording using the epg? i.e. scroll to a future program and mark it to record. (yes, I realise it will currently only work for abc). Does the Sony epg detect the correct time, or is it currently out by an hour? I am asking these questions because I am seriously considering swapping the LG for the Sony. John.
