hyphen53 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Have just purchased a Panomax DTS-80P through Ebay for $140. Everything working fine seems a good purchase (thanks to "the_snark" for alerting me to advantages and pitfalls of some pvrs through some previous threads). Senario Am attempting to get FTA digital sound through a JVC Home Cinema. Red light is apparent through to "s/p dif" connection on the pvr and through the optical cable. The cinema system has been tested and is ok. Have tried various settings on the JVC re dolby digital etc etc...... to no avail......a JVC techo suggested perhaps the Panomax may have ability to alter the "decoding" being sent out. This is not mentioned in the supplied manual and cannot find such a feature through the menu. Am still waiting for the Panomax (Digicrystal) support people to respond. Ps. just noticed that Digicrystal SDT-9077P unit (that "the_snark" discovered was probably the same animal) states: Digital Audio Output as (optional.) Maybe doesn't work at all....... I don't know. ANY IDEAS GUYS ??? cheers Hyphen53
Sequel Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi Hyphen I have my Panomax hooked up to a Sony amp via the optical, and it decodes the sound fine. When watching SD it decodes it as PCM, as an experiment I re-tuned the HD channels (no picture) and the amp decoded/recieved the signal as DD 2/0. See my posts on the other Panomax thread http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...5062&st=220

AND I may just have to wait for adjust for whatever is appropriate. Any other ideas welcome...... cheers hyphen53
