DansDans Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Hey everyone I am only new to Canberra, I've been here for about 6 weeks, but I have only had my digital TV connected for 2. I am in Dunlop and strange things happen whenever I want to watch HD on Prime - firstly the HD STB I have (LG5100P) reports channel 60 as being in SD all the time (so obviously no upconvert there) however when HD programs are on like Ugly Betty or Heroes I have to change the channel on the STB for a few seconds and then flick it back to 60 in order to pick up the HD channel (I know its picked it up when the DD lamp lights up on my amp, and it says "HD" on the display on the screen), then all the ads I get are from Wollongong - if I flick between 60 and Prime View 61 I get two different sets of ads. Is this normal for Prime? Or more importantly is this normal for my HD STB to do this? Also before anyone decides to be a smartie about it - I am aware that alot of you do not consider Prime's 576p service HD, so no answers to that effect. DansDans

You shouldn't have to change channels on your HD STB to pick up the HD stream, but I have to do it too. PRIME redirects the HD channel to the SD channel when there is no native HD on. And IIRC, everyone who watches PRIME HD anywhere will get those same south coast and a few Victorian ads as well because PRIME only have the one HD encoder to service all thier transmitters.

Thats makes sense. SOmetimes however my STB doesnt pick up the change straight away and it could be up to 20 mins into a show before the change will kick in

DansDans Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 I have to change channel and change back for my STB to pick up the changes. Thats what I usually do, but sometimes that doesnt even work What STB do you have?
