BribieG Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 How? When? WTF? Pray tell us more...... If this is actually true I'm going to spend the evening getting drunk, watching 7 with the tears rolling down my cheeks. Happy day.
digitalj Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 How? When? WTF? Pray tell us more...... Well, I can at least confirm that there is no picture on 70 through my SD STB, used to have a pixelated picture 24/7 through the SD STB.
Milorad Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 If this is actually true I'm going to spend the evening getting drunk, watching 7 I used to do this, but I might stop doing that now... and actually have a clear head for the extra resolution
Timmy Downawell Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Well, that's an interesting development. I wonder if it's the prelude to Seven launching the All-New Seven HD channel, featuring a new lineup? (I love pointless speculation, but someone did recently post that Seven had been airing some different shows on HD than on their main channel, in Adelaide).
BribieG Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Also some speculation on the "New 7 HD Logo" thread that something may be afoot. We live in hope. Send us a sign, oh great Stokes in the sky.
Milorad Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Also some speculation yep.. not speculation here though - its definitely showing 1080i in melbourne.
BribieG Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 576p has provided so much fodder, argument and angst for forum members we're going to miss it. (well, like the proverbial hole in the head) We should have a wake for it. But what now to fill this void in our lives? How about "OK you bastards at 9 and 10, how about coming up with a REAL 1080P service not to mention MPEG4...." The road goes ever on.
digitalj Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 Let's just hope it's not a technical glitch.
Neon Kitten Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Also confirmed for Melbourne - 1440x1080i. Sneaky Seven That does explain the (dreadful) new HD logo though. Strangely, at the moment they're only running the demo lopp instead of normal programming. Finally, though, the joke of the HD world is gone, and shows like Heroes can be seen (presuming they get it right!) in their full high definition glory...
radical Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Can confirm down here in Sydney it's 1080i! Exciting!

Finally, though, the joke of the HD world is gone, and shows like Heroes can be seen (presuming they get it right!) in their full high definition glory... and now consumers can change settings around to optimise 7 HD, with progressive formats, you get no choice, because the broadcaster has already done the de-interlacing. Looking forward to 7 news tonight
GoForMoe Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Still 576p here... 1440x1080i in Melbourne @ 10.25mbps
digitalj Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 1440x1080i in Melbourne @ 10.25mbps Well, that bitrate isn't really anything to get excited about, PRIME already did 13MBps for 576p.
abdelrm Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Nothing in Perth as of yet, hope this is for real What does that mean for football?
Greebs Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Thought it looked a little better when I flicked during an F1 ad break, but didn't take much notice - definately 1080i here in Melbourne though (although it's only the HD loop, at least it's HD, not ED).
BribieG Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Nor Brisbane, could be either testing, or a gradual roll-out? I'm off work till Wed so will do some frequent checking daytime when they always show the Loop in Brisbane. Can't wait.
GoForMoe Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 TS Readout: http://www.freewebtown.com/chicki/7ts.zip
Sambo90 Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 576P in Adelaide, if this comes true omg! Seven have almost every decent show, and in 1080i that would be.
Tim Graham Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I don't know too much about the signifigance of these technically, although I thought I'd put them here all the same in case there's any interest. They're just straight out of the software, no editing. Caps (3mb/25 pictures) - Right-click and Save Target As
des Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Loop is very pixelated, my dvico card seems to keep crashing with this channel ODD.
sulimo Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Well Prime in Newcastle is still doing 576p. At least at the moment.
GoForMoe Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 A cap in PNG for quality comparison: (sorry about correcting the ratio, it was by accident): http://www.freewebtown.com/chicki/snapshot20070318153622.png
Milorad Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Well, that bitrate isn't really anything to get excited about. right, the bitrate has remained the same, but the resolution has increased. Presumably there will be an upgrade in bitrate, assuming this resolution gets a permanent nod. either way, the PQ is better, even allowing for artifacting
