Hi all,

I am sure some of you might have gone to the sony Hi-def event launches in your capital cities, just a few thoughts on the brisbane one.

1. This was basically all about the PS3, and i have to say it is probably worth it as well. They had only 2 games on display the Formula 1 and some jeep thing. Needless to say both were breathtaking. The main demo was happening on a 46X bravia connected via HDMI.

2. The PS3 has a interface very similar to the PSP, and this is good, you can display pictures, view movies etc etc

3. They had both the 70 inch SXRD and 60 inch on display, but as the brissy showroom was bit tight on space, it was very hard to appreciate thier true colors. The viewing space to these televisions was less than 1m which sucked.

4. I think most of those who bought the PS3 on the day were going to or planning to buy a 40 inch or 46 inch bravia with it .

5. They also had a monster of a projector on display in the back room, full HD resolution and jaw dropping size. The thing i noted was that it was boiling standing underneath it as maybe the aircon was stuffed up.

6. The 3LCD tv did grab some attention mainly due to thier low pricing. But i think overall the BRAVIA ruled the day.

7. They had a stand alone blueray player in the mix as well, which wasnt being demoed really well. It was hooked to a smallish tv and prcied around 1600. I think most people will give this a miss in favour of the PS3

8. The wine champagne and food might have caused me to miss out on something, but this is alrite for now

9. They hooked everyone up with free spiderman 3 tickets, which was alright as well!

I was at the same event - and yeah, it was fun. however, seeing i'm a "glass half empty" guy..

Why have both ps3's right next to each other?!?! you couldn't bloody move. And additionally - whats with the ****en car games?? they had motorstorm and f1 playing. and thats it. apparently ps3 does nothing but car games. so i thought i'd branch out and go play with the psp... at least on there they'll have.... oh..... ridge racer.

i -hate- car games. :D

But anyway - back on topic - the ps3 that had playing on the 46X looked amazing. only possible problem that i saw there was when the car turns the corner on motorstorm - you could see VERY slight refresh shuddering on the backgrounds. It's possible that this could've been the game itself, because i didn't notice any on the f1 game - and it was being played on a v-series 40".

additionally i think it's the first time i've seen that HD Blu-ray demo disk (the one with the field of grass, bunch of dead fish, some water etc etc) on a tv thats been properly setup - stunning. absolutely amazing.
