Stets Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Hi All, I have searched through the forum but haven't been able to find an answer to my question... Although maybe I have just misunderstood the technical side of the discussions According to the manual for the Rotal RSX-1056 I am able to plug an IR extender into the REM In Zone port and control the Zone 2 functions independently of the main zone functions, i.e. volume, source, etc. Searching the net for an IR extender I have found plenty that have an IR emitter that is positioned in front of the IR sensor on the 1056 but have not found any that have a 3.5mm mono plug that will plug directly into the back of the Rotel. Does anyone have details of an IR extender that will plug into the REM In Zone port as I believe that using the emitter type will only control the main zone. TIA Stets

RodN Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 BumpC'mon guys Surely someone has used an IR extender with the Rotel Zone Rem In port before Stets I'm using the remote zone 2 port on the back of my 1068 which is identical to your receiver. I'm using this : http://www.kordz.com/control-IRsystems.htm if you scroll down I bought the kit. On this do you see that they are standard 3.5mm inputs? I have used both stereo and/or mono plugs from this unit to the back of my rotel without a problem. I have also used the same stereo and/or mono 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables from my rotel cd player to this unit. Works a treat. I specifically tried both stereo 3.5mm and mono 3.5mm just to make sure and they both worked fine. Just remember the 'zone' socket is a 12v trigger. It's the remote 1 and 2 sockets you are looking at.

Obviously I need an IR target... in this case the IR-70C From the IR target I assume you then need the IR-C4 connecting block Now do you just run a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male plug from one the 4 emitter ports on the IR-70C to the Zone Rem In port on the Rotel Tia Stets
