Hitachi-LG Brings Blu-ray and HD DVD Together in Combo Drive

Hitachi-LG Data Storage (HLDS) has revealed its plans to showcase its first drive for PCs that has the ability to record Blu-ray discs and read HD DVDs at the CeBIT 2007 show in mid-March. The drive dubbed GGW-H10N “Super Multi Blue” drive can read, record, or re-write CDs and DVDs (10x speed for DVD±R, 8x for DVD±RW, 6x/8x for DVD±R DL) as well as playback, read and record single and dual-layer Blu-ray discs (4x or 3.5x speed). Moreover, it has the capabilities to playback HD DVDs. The drive is said to make to the shelves in May for an expected price of $1200.

Good news I agree. When do you think we're likely to see a dual format box for our HT systems? If someone would bring one out, I'd blinkin' well go and buy it no doubt...
