mjgriffo Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Hi all, I have an Alienware notebook, with a FlyDVB-T Hybrid mini tuner card in it. The back of the notebook has a coaxial connector for the antenna to plug into, however I can't find an adaptor suitable to go between the notebook and antenna cord. This is what it looks like (it's the second socket from the left) coaxial socket It's similar in diameter to the outside of a female RCA plug, but the hole in the centre is much smaller (like a digital aerial connector pin), and the outer rim is unthreaded (smooth). Can someone please tell me what I need to connect my fly lead from the wall outlet to the notebook? I haven't found anything to suit the purpose in Dick Smith, Tandy or Jaycar - I'm assuming it may be a US connector? Any help would be much appreciated!
mtv Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 It looks like a push-on F connector (no thread) If it is, Lacey's TV sell them, push-on male to standard threaded F adaptor, and various other adaptors to suit. Look for F fast connectors on page 39 of Lacey's TV Catalogue HERE
mjgriffo Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 thanks for that, I'll take a look. cheers
mjgriffo Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 Ok....I ordered a fast F connector from Laceys. The centre pin is the correct size, but the outer shroud is about 3mm larger all around than the connector on the laptop (so the pin sits in the centre but the ring floats in space around the connector. Does anyone else have any ideas what connector might suit?
