1.3

Thats awesome I did not know it was 1.3.I was told in the other forums that is the 1.5mpbs we will see in dts-hd until we play it through an amp with hdmi 1.3.

You'll need a DTS-HD MA decoder in your receiver to play back DTS HD MA at more than 1.5mbps regardless of the HDMI version (EDIT unless the PS3 converts the DTS HD MA to PCM or something). FURTHER EDIT - However, 1.3 is the first version of HDMI with enough bandwidth to passthrough DTS HD MA...

yes it does, over HDMI (but not over optical).

Andrew.

oh cool .I'll just buy a pre-amp or a cheaper denon in the future and connect it to my denon a1.

Have they added this already? I thought it was scheduled for a future firmware upgrade and at the moment all you get is 1.5mpbs Core DTS sound?

OK, I change my answer to "yes it will" :blink:

seriously, there is so much confusing info around, its hard to keep a track of, and I'm sorry if I've misled anyone with my answer.

Yeah sorry to sound like I was having a go at you.

I meant it more in if they've added it, awesome. That would be a major upgrade for discs that use it. eg. Kingdom of heaven, X-men 3

I think I read it's slated for a firmware upgrade this month.

That's OK, no offence taken :blink:

I think you might be right, and I just jumped the gun a bit.

I thought that DTS isn't allowed to be converted to PCM, so it would probably more likely convert the DTS HD to DTS.

Or am I missing something? :blink:

FRANIN; As I said in the other ps3 best blu ray player thread your avc a1 can take dolby truehd /dtshd ma as pcm without having to buy a new pre amp . Do what Andrew has done and save some money :blink:

Digitalj; dts had to come around otherwise hdmi ver 1.0/1/2 amps would be decoding dd true hd lpcm and dts would be shafted :D

FRANIN ;I dont see why not -dts.com specifically says a hdmi ver1.1/2 amp can take a dts hd ma track that has been converted to pcm and play it back at 24/96 sampling rate.It lists both the 24.5mbps for blu as well as the 18.0 for hd dvd.

When you consider the original pcm soundtracks are usually 16/48 up to disneys 24/48 and you have 24/192 dac's ? like mine ; its reassuring :D

edit. I went to the dolby site FRANIN and found the source data rates for the different movie formats

1. 6ch 16/48 is 4.61 mbps

2. 6ch 24/48 is 6.9 ;;

3. 8ch 16/48 is6.14 ;;

4,8 ch 24/48 is 9.2 ;;

After packetizing for dolby truehd these rates are even lower ; I have a feeling we are in the clear :blink:
