holden_nut Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Hey i have Media Center installed with a Dvico HDTV Lite tuner card. I cant get any tv guides through the MC settings using my postcode of 4551. Are we able to download our tv guides here in Australia using the Media Center feature?
Neon Kitten Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 No, unfortunately Australia is the only country in the world where TV guides (EPGs) are not available to MCE or Vista owners. This is not Microsoft's fault; it's thanks to channels Nine (mainly), Seven and Ten, who feel they're better off if you don't know what they plan to show. Be sure to write to them and let them know what you think of their stupidity. I believe there are "pirate" options available for MCE, but someone actually using it would have to let you know.

djOS Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 ICE TV Guide is my MCE Source + ICE-PIMP is awesome, I can set timers & entire show series records from my phone or any net connected pc on the planet!
AndrewWilliams Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 ICETV is the best... ...or if you want a free solution, Free EPG + OzTivo is what I'm currently using. Easy to set up and no complaints from me.
ocujos Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 ICE TV is the best but it's not free. The only reason they have a viable business model is because of the stupidity of certain TV stations I refuse to pay for what should be free! This is why I use OzTivoExtreme and Blade Runner to get my free EPG I also use WebGuide to access EPG from anywhere and from any device. Check it out. Apart from BladeRunner it's the other must-have software for MCE.
JasonV Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Do a search for "Bladerunner pro" iv'e used this a while ago and it worked just fine.
Croc Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 unfortunately Australia is the only country in the world is this correct? one and only? i was mad about this before but if we don't just have it but also are the ONLY country not to have it than i'm twice as mad
djOS Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 is this correct?one and only? i was mad about this before but if we don't just have it but also are the ONLY country not to have it than i'm twice as mad Blame Tel$tra, they won a court battle that set the precedent of being able to copyright "a collection of facts" (the battle was over the phone numbers in the phone book) which is the opposite to how things went in the USA and the rest of the civilized world!
Neon Kitten Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 The irony is that the driving force behind this ridiculous claim of "intellectual property" over TV listings was Channel Nine - the same Nine that has a partnership with Microsoft in the form on NineMSN! I'm still amazed that Microsoft capitulated to Nine - which, essentially, is just an insignificant, lame, try-hard third-world TV network.
