S601Superflow Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Can someone Help I have a ex85 HDD DVD recorder I am having trouble viewing jpeg files in the correct perspective. The unit is connected via HDMI to a Sony DA3200es AVI receiver then via HDMI to a Sony Bravia v4200 LCD TV. The jpeg slides & burnt dvd's are stretched horizontally. I have noted with HDMI the signal is fixed as progressive. the manual says by switching from progressive may fix this, but that means discarding the expensive HDMI connection in favor of a inferior 3 cable connection. There also appears to be no zoom function for the DVD to display in full screen mode. i also have a Toppy Masterpiece that is also connected via the av receiver which is more functional in this respect. Is there a way to: a. correct the distorted display of Jpeg files to their correct dimension b. display burnt DVD's in the correct dimension filling the screen. The DVB software is version 0.46. I have also noted, I do not appear to be able to play a dvd while recording a tv program. Your comments & help with these issues will be greatly appreciated. Lew
S601Superflow Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Well then not much help from panasonic so far. I rang the customer help line. the result was it must the Sony products giving the problem. I disconnected the HDMI cable & fitted the component cables. & adjusted to no progressive scan. The result was Jpeg photos viewed in correct proportions. The Burnt DVD's filling the full screen at 480p resolution in correct ptoportion. Viewed via the DVD input to the Sony str3200es avi unit. A problem arose viewing the digital tv signal though. the TV picture was displaying red interference lines cycling through it. I left the component cables attached & reconnected the HDMI cable to the Sony STR3200es & EX85. now the DVD was displayed in 1080i via the HDMI input to the AV receiver, but was again displayed with reduced vertical proportion. Digital television was displayed in 1080i with correct proportion. So in the wash up I can watch burnt DVD's now in full screen but at relatively poor resolution. I hope this is of use to anyone who thinks just because a unit has HDMI that it will be fully funtional !! It appears to me that the HDMI on this unit was an after thought for marketing purposes. Lew
