Definitely 60 inch - I was surprised - didn't know they made one. Not sure if it's 1080 or not. The Hitachi 55" is selling there for $4900, was $4700. This was selling for $3999 at Domayne North Ryde a few weeks ago. Mike

marty88 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I think you may have it confused with the LG 60 inch Plasma. JB Hi Fi Brighton has one on display at the same price you mentioned. Shiny black inbuilt HD tuner and 768 Resolution.

metal beat Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I rang JBHiFi at Hornsby. They DO NOT have a Hitachi 60 inch plasma. They have only got the 55 inch. They did get in this week a 60inch LG plasma.

Struggo Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 OK.... That's great news..... But when are we going to see some info on it? Hitachi 60-inch Director’s Series plasma (P60X901). http://news.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/10381/367520.html http://www.hdtvlounge.net/hitachi/fall-line/ http://www.flattelly.co.uk/news/category/Hitachi/ One of the new features in select 2007 Hitachi TVs is a technology the company calls REEL60. It’s aimed at fixing what Hitachi calls a “50-year problem,” that being the errors caused when 24fps film material gets converted to the 60fps scan rate of televisions. The resulting error, commonly called judder, can be seen as panning images seem to studder across the screen. In the 3:2 pulldown technique, which has become ubiquitous on DVD players and HDTVs, film frames are repeated every 1/8 second. Hitachi’s REEL60 method interpolates frames based on the original film images, which looked convincingly smooth in the demonstration presented at the June 26th New York press conference. The new feature will be available on the 50-inch P50V701, the 50-inch P50X901 and the 60-inch (the company’s first 60-inch plasma) P60X901. In addition to REEL60, Hitachi has begun referring to the panel structure technology in it’s plasma TVs as ClearWindow, which had previously been called ALiS. ClearWindow (available in 1280 X 1080 and 1920 X 1080 resolutions) is meant to separate the resolution from scan rate, which most other manufacturers combine. All Hitachi plasma TVs use an interlaced technique to address the pixels, rather than a progressive technique. The company claims that its method more perfectly matches the 1080i video signal that most HDTV broadcasters use and offer a higher pixel density than their competitors. The company’s LCD TVs use a 1080p panel structure. http://www.e-gear.com/story/image.bsp?var=...e&sid=66927 http://www.e-gear.com/story/story.bsp?sid=...9&var=story

Spoke to Hitachi yesterday and they advised the 60 inch will land in OZ during the last quarter of this year. Most probably around Nov. to coincide with whatever SONY decides to dump on us this year. Geez I'm still really pissed off that they've dropped the SXRD just because they didn't sell a Billion units in OZ. Anyway if the black levels on this are tolerable it just might be worth the wait.
