Typhoon Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 For you Zorg. Like? I am having technical difficulties - will re-post soon!!!
betty boop Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 nice new toy typhoon. I almost got one of these myself. ps you might want ot resize the pics as theyre huuuge ! not really internet friendly. use an image program eg acdsee to resize or in windows explorer use the send to function that resizes for emailing that will reduce in size, or alternatively in paintshop open and do a save as. plus you might want ot mask street names and your car rego in those pics for privacy reason, unless thats not a concern for you. there are all sorts on the net you know !

Thanks Al. It is such a great car. I hadn't planned to get anything that nice, but we test drove a standard Jetta (and I hadn't planned to get anything that nice either), and then we made the mistake of asking for a test drive of the GTI - couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces. Oh well, life's short eh? I am really poor at fixing photo's - I'll try reducing size and hiding the rego - good tip. Plus had problems getting all 6 shots on here. It repeated one photo 3 times. Will try and re-post later today. Zorg asked me to send him pics but they were too large (hence posted on here). Hope you are well. Typhoon.

Typhoon. hi typhoon, I was keen on this one as well. loved the gear box, reckon its faster than a standard manual plus the auto would be good for the gridlock I get caught in daily. I ended up goign a citroen c4 instead, was cheaper, still reasonable poke with a nice vtec engine, nice wheels, handlign and styling plus didnt have the 6 month wait there was on the gti the time I was lookign at it. Really did liek the gti though nice ride reckon its the best golf gti VW has brought out yet ! ps do hide the street signs in yoru pics as well otherwise gives away where you live

zorg1503559539 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 very nice v looks awesome a true pocket rocket, as ab has suggested see if you can resize the pics and edit out rego and street name enjoy and expect a full detailed drive report soon. hopefully we can join the vw family soon... might even be the same engine heheheh

Typhoon Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Hey Al, Thanks for the comments. And how is the Citroen? I love anything European. Having said that, I love hubby's Typhoon too. Mello, I would love to see pics of your new black betty (Typhoon is black). I love cars. Shame I haven't got the cash to get what I really want - an Aston Martin Vanquish (for when I'm feeling like a Bond girl ), a F430 , a 911 Turbo , a vintage Mustang , a vintage Cobra , and a vintage gull-wing Merc . I think that's about it.

Guest JohnA Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 congrats on the car typhoon. They are an awsome car, seriously considered one myself to replace my WRX but i couldn't handle the front wheel drive. Now the golf r32 hmmmmmmm
Typhoon Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 Thanks JohnA, You and I have very similar tastes, B&W 703's and now hot little turbo's. I get Rex's coming up next to me all the time wanting to play, but I'm too embarrassed to try. I know I would lose. Though I passed one yesterday with absolute ease, and thought "hey, I just flogged that Rexy", and then saw him in my rear view mirror pulling into a parking space he had slowed down for. Nice while it lasted.

LOL, i'll give you a hint, if they get the launch right forget it, if they slip up you will take them, as long as it isn't modded you have to launch them at around 4k rpm to not bog down, alot of people don't like doing it because of the week gearboxes. or if you want to stand a better chance don't try from a standing start, do it whilst rolling

Guest JohnA Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 but Falcons are only good in a straight line, and they can't hold traction As for a boxter....well considering the price i'll take a WRX and spend 10k on mods and still smoke it. Boxters aren't that quick, damn nice cars, but not very quick and alot of money. You will find alot of porsche drivers hate us WRX owners because of this reason, a few mods to a rex and look out, and STi, still a ahell of a lot cheaper then a boxter with an unbreakable gearbox and forget it I have driven a typhoon, and i must admit, i was very impressed with it, that was untill we took it to the twisties
Thudd1503560234 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 You will find alot of porsche drivers hate us WRX owners because of this reason, a few mods to a rex and look out I've gone the modified cheapie route too, but if you asked me "Do you want an F360 or a modded Rex that is just as quick", I'll take the prancing horse every time. Of course, the other one is achievable by mere mortals but I don't kid myself that it's a 'better' car.
Guest JohnA Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Thud, totaly agree, if i had the funds i would buy a porsche or a ferarri over a wrx sti, evo, or any other little hot hatch in a heart beat. You just can't compare the 2 cars. I just hate it when people say a porsche will whip your arse.... sure a $300,000 top of the line porsche with AWD will have me for breakfast, but hang on, i only spent $40k on my car, if i add another $40k worth of mods on it i think i may whip mr porsches back side also.....BUT which would i have if i could afford it, yep i'd take the exotic everytime. I mean seriously, lets compare apples with apples. But we are getting of topic here, sorry for the little hijack

Hubby and I test drove an RS4 last weekend - and yes the salesman knew we were in no position to buy, he was just a really lovely guy and saw that my husband is a car nut. It was great, but I find the body bit boring (the TT is way sexier). I didn't drive, only a passenger, but it was quick, super smooth, and extremely refined, though it lacks that feeling of a hand pushing you back in your seat like you do with the Typhoon. Don't get me wrong, if I had the choice to take a Typhoon vs a RS4 for free, I would definitley take the RS4. But if I was given $180K to spend wherever, then I would be inclined to go for a 2nd hand Porsche. I have only driven a Boxter, so I'm purely guessing I'd probably love the 911 Turbo. And most people hate the Cayman, but I think it's better looking than the Boxter yeah?
