cwt
Via Amp for Audio IPOD Dock (Yamaha IPOD Dock) Airport Express from IMac Foxtel - with component straight into Sony 52"X series Pansonic SD DVDR - with HDMI straight into Sony 52"x series Optical out of 52"X series to Yamaha Anybody see any improvements on the way I have set up? Assigning was a huge pain in the but. Wish I could label the buttons on the remote. Will have to reprogamme the Harmony remote now. Dont know how close the yammie is to the rptv Trigg; but Ide transcode the foxtel component to hdmi in the amp and lose a set of component leads. I agree. I tried using the passthrough from component to HDMI on my dvd player, and it works really well. No picture degradation at all. And one less connection to the display. Andrew. Trigg
Yes, was originally setting up that way, but sometimes my son (2 yo) likes to watch playhouse disney and really no need to have amp on for that.
Guest brendo_74
Andrew and Group, A quick update on my part of the group buy, Picked up my 2700 from dealer late yesterday afternoon, ready for a full long weekend of play I also purchased a Krix speaker package from the dealer consisting of Lyrix Gold Fronts, KDX centre and Atmospherix rear surrounds. Selected the in ceiling rears over a pair of Equinox as the the rear wall of my lounge room is staggered, so ceiling speakers could be installed with a consistant distance from the seating position. The dealer did a good price on the speakers as well, so I am very happy with the way everything turned out. Have receiver, fronts and centre up and running now, but still gatthering the courage to cut holes in my ceiling for the rear surrounds. I'm happy with the sound so far, but do feel as though i'm bit down on lower base when compared to the same speakers in the dealer's sound lounge. I do have a larger, more open room than the dealer. Maybe the speakers will free up a bit with some use? I'm not sure why this is happening, is anyone able to cast some light on this for me? Anyway, my thanks go to out Andrew, I know he put a lot of work into organising the group buy for us and I'm very gratefull for his efforts. Brendan There are a number of reasons why this is happening. Firstly, your new system is fresh out of the box, and needs running in. You will notice it gets better as the weeks progress. Secondly, your room plays a huge part in sonic peformance, in fact, its probably plays more of an impact on the performance of your system than the amplifier does. As the dealers room was different, you too will have a different sound. Make sure you set up everything correctly. Ensure your speakers are wired in phase, and all settings on the amp (distance, crossover etc) are up and running before worrying about the systems ability. Third, are you sure you are recreating the same settings as the dealer had when he demoed?
AndrewW
Third, are you sure you are recreating the same settings as the dealer had when he demoed? One thing you will be missing is the Rotel power amp driving the mains I'm sure he told you about that, right ? He definitely told me that when I demo'd and subsequently purchased mine, so I knew that I would lose some punch. I must admit that I too am a little disappointed in the bass response from my setup, but I'm willing to give them a little time and see how it goes. Failing all else, it's an excuse to buy a sub Andrew.

AndrewW
Been doing a bit of organising and playing around this weekend. Decided to make use of the two spare amp channels and bi-amp my front speakers. I am actually impressed with the difference. The sound from the fronts seems clearer, and there also seems to be a bit more bass. This is watching the Casino Royale trailer on the PS3, which I have probably already watched 100 times, so I know it pretty well If you've got the spare cable, and aren't using the rear surrounds, I'd suggest giving the bi-amping a go (just don't forget to enable it in the advanced menu). Gutty
One thing you will be missing is the Rotel power amp driving the mains I'm sure he told you about that, right ? Adding a Rotel RB-1080 has completely changed my Yammy 1600. Something i'd highly reccomend as a future upgrade especially for music.
Remorhaz
Well I finally unpacked and set it up tonight Source Inputs: Sony DVP-NS92V DVD -> HDMI + Coax Digital (+6ch) -> DVD Teac DVB800 HD-STB -> DVI/HDMI + Optical Digital -> DTV Foxtel -> Component + Optical Digital -> CBL/SAT (I/O Assigned and Renamed CBL/SAT to Foxtel) Xbox 360 -> Component + Optical Digital -> DVD (I/O Assigned and Renamed DVR/VCR2 to Xbox 360) Xbox -> Component + Optical Digital -> DTV (I/O Assigned and Renamed VCR1 to Xbox) Output: HDMI to 50" Pioneer HD Plasma (I've also got a component monitor out from the 2700 to the plasma bit it looks like I won't need it) I'm also using the 2700's deinterlacer and upscaler to convert the foxtel to 720p (all the other inputs already come in as a 720p source so pass through) and the Component to HDMI conversion for the Foxtel and Xbox and Xbox360 inputs. Now I'm just reconfiguring my harmony remote to switch it all from being setup with my old Denon 3801 to the new Yamaha 2700. At the moment I've got my front mains (Tannoy) Bi-Wired but will see what happens if I decide to get some Surround Back speakers again. Tomorrow I'll have to run the auto setup and setup all the sound levels and so on and try out some audio material (and setup the tuner, network and other extras). NB: Has anyone got the Yamaha remote to control the Foxtel Digital Pace box (I've got a DC-420NF)? none of the Pace codes seem to work with it?
