Chesty
That is correct it will not convert audio via HDMI, I was almost across the line on this amp, but even though I was told it might change nobody including cambridge could tell me when hence I switched to my next pick, having heard both I am still happy as I am mainly watching movies, if I ah a lot of 2 channel use I may have still stuck with the Cambridge That sucks. No good when you want to connect a PS3. Fancy having HDMI that does not convert audio. I might as well stay with my curent yammy.

AndrewW
So has anybody's group buy turned up yet? I just spoke to the dealer. There was a slight hold up with one of the payments, which has led to a slight delay, but it shouldn't have delayed the deliveries too much. He reckons that everyone should have their amps by the end of this week/early next week. Sorry for the slight delay, I have been out of the loop and did not realise that there had been a problem. Cheers, Andrew.

AndrewW
Maybe the dealer didnt pay his bill??? No, without going into too much personal detail, one of the credit card payments was refused, and then they had to wait for the second attempt as a direct deposit to clear. The dealer waited until this payment was through before placing the total order (I'm not completely happy about this, but not much I can do about it now). All I can do is pass on the promise that you will have your receivers soon. And apologise once again. Believe me I feel very bad about the delay, I was hoping most of you would have had them by now. Andrew. rolfpf
I'd be interested as well. I've done some research, and the Yamaha RX-V2700 seems to suit all my requirements, but I have only recently came to this conclusion. Funny but from this forum there seems to have a number in Brisbane who are interested in the Yamaha. Edited March 27, 2007 by rolfpf
AndrewW
I'd be interested as well. Sorry mate, The group buy closed a week and a half ago. Get your post count up to 10 and I will send you a PM with the dealer's contact details and you can see what sort of deal he can do for you. Cheers, Andrew. Strange, I'm assuming you paid via credit card ? Might have rounded up to the nearest $5 for the credit card surcharge ? Andrew.

mizu
Yes. Somehow I got rounded up an extra $1 (on top of the agreed CC surcharge) to the nearest $5. Just wondering if I was the only one experiencing this anomaly, because retailers are certainly capable of charging to the nearest dollar, or even the nearest cent. Remorhaz
Yep - I noticed the same $1 more but I'm sure it isn't going to break me

Mizu, PM me with your address or bank details and I'll send you/deposit the $1. Seriously. I specified a price, and that's the price I expected people to pay. As the organiser of the group buy, the last thing I want is even one unhappy participant. Andrew.
mizu
AndrewWilcockson, I think you did a great job and that's the last thing I expect you to do. It's not a money thing. It's a principle thing. I was also considering bailing on the GB since I am in Melbourne and could also source the same unit (for $1 less ironically) for pickup, but decided to stick with the group despite a lot of difficulty with delivery. The delivery cost is spread over the group and I suspect it is financially advantageous for the retailer for me to pickup from Yamaha. As it was, there was somewhat a lack of help in accommodating my delivery (to a home address, where I can arrange to be present for the entire day if the day is specified) and a gentle push towards self-pickup. I also felt during my several phone communications with the retailer that information was withheld which might make these intentions clear (and cast them in an unfavourable light). Furthermore, I was not given a number to contact Yamaha to arrange my own delivery, despite several requests. Hence, it was with wry amusement that I noted the extra $1 charge, since it could potentially mean an extra few bucks profit if repeated for the others. I didn't know the industry was so hard-up. These forums must really be making it a tough market for dealers. Dont let this cast a sour note. I consider the GB a success and still cant wait for my unit. I did clearly state from the start that delivery had to be to a business address. The dealer is not making money from the delivery. The cost of delivery is effectively being covered by Yamaha themselves, and their couriers can only deliver to business addresses. These units are not going to the dealer and then being shipped out. They are being shipped directly from Yamaha themselves. I'm sorry if there was miscommunication about this, I tried to make it as clear as possible Andrew. AndrewW
Well said mate I think a lot of people underestimate the work involved in collating the info before even making the deal, I like you appreciate that work and we now having paid need to see the good faith from the dealer in getting our units I know you will receive them, and I hope they start arriving soon. Believe it or not, nobody is more anxious about speedy delivery times than me ... I'll give him another call tomorrow morning and see how things are going. Andrew. Hydrology
The courier companies (such as the ones used by Yamaha) require delivery to be a place of business. Home deliveries are out of the question.

Interesting about couriers and business addresses. Wonder what they do for home businesses. I would have thought the important points of convenience would be a fixed address and a person in attendance, ready to receive. I guess a business address implies both.
