mello yello Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 And Ferrari are pre season favourites already My early tip is for Filippe Massa (FERRARI)
ibanez5 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 And Ferrari are pre season favourites already We might see Kimi Raikkonen praising his new team and car in his trademark emotionless voice at the post race press conference. Hopefully Mark Webber can get some good results without his car crapping out on him like last year, especially Monaco. Can we have F1 tipping?
???? Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Now that it's so close to starting again for another season... it doesn't seem like the last one ended that long ago... Can't wait! Mark who??
mello yello Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 Can we have F1 tipping? Excellent idea Should we run a poll first? How about each week you can tip who you think will stand on the podium 1st 2nd and 3rd 10 points for guessing 1st 6 points for guessing 2nd 4 points for guessing 3rd 5 bonus points for getting the exact trifecta in order (maximum 25 points) 5 points for getting the podium right but not in the correct order (which would be a maximum of 15 points if you got 1st correct and obviously 2nd and 3rd around the wrong way...or any other combo) And obviously whatever you got right gets counted..so if you only managed to pick 3rd place correct you get 4 points. I think thats a bit more challenging than just simply picking who you think will win the race. You may never want to pick say Alonso for whatever reason but could still win the comp on placings Any takers?

Foggy Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I'd rather bet on what minor catastrophe will strike Mark Webber in each race.... post race quote from MW: "I was driving nicely and working my way through the field, the tyres were holding up well, and we finally got the rear aerodynamics sorted in the last practice session. Coming into turn 15, there was a flock of seagulls chasing a hot chip that someone had thrown onto the track from the pedestrian footbridge crossing.""Suffice to say that the remains of one of the larger birds managed to completely obscure one of the sponsors logos on my helmet, so I reached for the cleaning cloth to wipe it away as I make an effort to look after my sponsors, consequently I missed my braking marker and ran into the back of Kimi's Ferrari." "Kimi wasn't too happy about it, but there was nothing I could do, it was purely an act of nature."
Brazzwald Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Bit optimistic there with this future telling, Kimi's Ferrari? More like Ralf's Toyota. I don't think the Red Bulls will be up there with the Ferrari's just yet, but hell, I would love to be proven wrong Brazzwald
Foggy Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Yes, Kimi had been in for an early pitstop as part of a risky 3 stop strategy that Ferrai were experimenting with.
Aloysius Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 http://optuszoo.news.ninemsn.com.au/articl...amp;_cobr=optus "Ford Motor is selling British luxury car maker Aston Martin to a group fronted by former Benetton and BAR motor racing boss David Richards in a deal worth STG479 million ($A1.19 billion). The second-biggest US carmaker said it would retain a STG40 million investment in Aston Martin, the carmaker James Bond spy films made famous, and that it expected the deal to close in the second quarter of this year. Details of the transaction broadly confirmed what sources close to the matter had told Reuters. Richards, whose Prodrive motor-sport and engineering group has a team place for the 2008 Formula One championship, is being partnered in the deal by Kuwait's Investment Dar and Adeem Investment, as well as John Sinders, a banker in finance and shipping from Houston, Texas, and Dubai"

Dork(original) Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Today a Ferrari fan was stopped from entering the track because he had a.. A.. knife B.. gun C.. A mullett D.. flag If you picked D you are a winner.Apparently it may cause racial tension. What's next no footy jumpers at the footy. But they reckon it was because his pole was to long(flagpole that is)Dork. Ps i wish my pole was to long and a bit wider. To much info maybe
mello yello Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Today a Ferrari fan was stopped from entering the track because he had a.. A.. knife B.. gun C.. A mullett D.. flag I would have said C...a mullett Keep mulletts where they belong....in the Seventies and out West. Ever seen a mullett driving a Ferrari?....no I didnt think so

mello yello Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Im just dragging this lot over from the " other thread " .....seems they are happy to just talk about aspect ratios I want to talk about the sport itself... What does everyone think of the qualifying rules changes ?A vast improvement I reckon. And what about Bernies late night racing idea? Does that mean a floodlight track or F1 cars with headlights? .....get real Bernie Not a lot of difference from last year really. Apart from being able to set a time after time is up in Q1 and Q2, and a bit of a change in fuel regulations in Q3, not a lot has changed. Youre kidding right?A lot has changed. All qualifying is now done in one session rather than over two days. Theres a Top Ten Shootout for pole position. A cut has been introduced to a knock out system. Engines reduced to 2.4 l capacity, 8 cylinders. ITV Report on engine change agreements Tyre changing reintroduced. Qualifying changed to one hour 'knock out' system: Qualifying consists of two 15 minute sessions, followed by one 20 minute session. 5 minute breaks between each session. Clocks are frozen after sessions 1 and 2 (any timed laps not finished before session ends will not count). The last session differs in that any timed laps started before the end of the 20 minute session will count even if time has run out after the lap was started. Session 1: All 22 cars on track, unlimited laps and any fuel load permitted. Once 15 minutes are up, the slowest 6 cars are locked into their position in the order they qualified (P17–P22). Session 2: 16 remaining cars on track, unlimited laps and any fuel load permitted. Once 15 minutes are up, the slowest 6 cars are locked into their position in the order they qualified (P11–P16). Session 3: 10 remaining cars on track, unlimited laps. Drivers must start session with intended fuel load for the next day's race. Any fuel burned for the session is replenished by the FIA once the session is over (based on number of laps within 110% of best time completed by driver). This has taken on the nickname of "Tiger Tokens". Any laps slower than 110% of the driver's best effort do not count for the fuel replenishment "Tiger Tokens". Drivers from P11–P22 may start race on any fuel load they wish. As of Race 11 (French Grand Prix 14th - 16th July ) the clocks are kept running at the end of sessions 1 and 2 and drivers are permitted to complete their lap. The 3rd session is reduced to 15 minutes. I like the new rules ..I thought last years were really over regulated What is so strange about it? Other motorsports race at night so it is a smart thing to do. It would bring in a much larger market and show off the country to more people - I am all for it. Other motorsports that race at night are with cars that have headlights Like I said do they floodlight the track or put headlights on the cars...either way its ridiculous to do that to Formula 1 just because of European TV ratings. If they want to watch the Aussie GP ..let em get up early or stay up late..just like we do
ibanez5 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 The concept of a night race is good, but I don't know how they are planning to floodlight Albert Park. The reason behind it is total crap - purely for European TV ratings. Keep the Australian GP during the day.

Yep thats how I see it too Bernie is threatening Melbournes licence to stage the event if they dont race at night....over like you said TV viewing times in Europe.
ibanez5 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Ha yes Ferrari 1 and 2 tomorrow Kimi was excited about getting pole position.
Steve C Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Kimi was excited about getting pole position. I've always wondered how a driver feels sitting on pole... I guess being on pole is what makes them so quick to get off it once the lights go green!
mello yello Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 I've always wondered how a driver feels sitting on pole... You have left yourself sooooo wide open with that one Tell you what..why dont you get yourself a ten foot pole and find out What a faaaaantttaaastic race !!!! Love the new rule changes ...and FINALLY in widescreen Big day for the Red Teams this weekend

Love the new rule changes ...and FINALLY in widescreen Big day for the Red Teams this weekend It's weird having the Finnish anthem before the Italian anthem, I'm so used to having the German anthem before the Italian anthem. Kudos to Louis Hamilton, 3rd in is first race. Mark Webber should have Kovalainen's seat.
